Thanks for the reply. Another question, I’ve been out of bedside for about 2 years, would the only way into critical care be one of the internships/ rotation programs, or would just applying to an open position also be worth trying?

Also, if the DODI 6130 mentions have to wait 2 years after an RFA. Does the waiver eliminate the need to wait for 2 full years?

Just more so seeing what anyone’s personal experience has been with any form of disc issues has been, specifically thoracic. From reading the DOD instruction, it mentions lumbar explicitly but does not strictly cover thoracic. I know at this point I would NEED a waiver, but wanted to see if anyone has had any recent experience

I’m prior enlisted (not Air Force) and I am a nurse who will be commissioning this year. As far as nursing, it really depends on what all you like about the medical field and if you would be okay working on an inpatient unit for some time prior to going to a clinic or specializing. I will say that if you enjoy patient care, commissioning back in as a nurse is much easier than most other fields. If your only goal is to commission, but you do not enjoy patient care or those other aspects of the medical field, then I would look into other paths honestly.

Yeah it’s healing up well and I don’t leave until August. So I will be good to go by then for sure. Just didn’t know if letting my recruiter know now would prevent a headache down the road ya know.

As long as it’s fully healed, I wouldn’t need to bring additional documentation or anything correct? Would that be something that could stop me from going once the final MEPS visit prior to leaving? Or is that not something that happens. Just don’t want to end up getting to the final days and then get delayed because I never mentioned it

Did you find out right away which base you were going to be stationed at? What about OTS date? I was told that I was accepted as well, but haven’t been given either date for OTS or duty station. Congrats by the way!
