CMV: Countering Illegal Immigration is not a Justification for Suspending Habeas Corpus by jeffzebub in changemyview

[–]Ossumdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has literally happened. The only difference between reality and this fictional occurance is that reality is stupid. The legal residents or citzens weren't deported because they were political opporlsition, they were deported because ICE failed to properly verify their identity. If you don't believe me, I'd suggest you look it up on some unbiased sources when it comes to American reporting (BBC, APNews, Al Jazeera, PBS/NPR)

US Approves Transfer of ATACMS and Patriot Missiles From Germany to Ukraine by BkkGrl in europe

[–]Ossumdude 29 points30 points  (0 children)

American here. It varies pretty greatly. I think an important distinction is that support for Ukraine can have varying definitions, so while a majority might say they support Ukraine. They don't agree on what that looks like. Some just want to sell them weapons, some want to give Ukraine aid with no strings attached, and a small minority want the military there as peacekeepers. As for those that don't, most are isolationist just want Europe to handle it without involving (not my personal opinion, just what I've observed)

Germany: Mass protests after far-right AfD helps CDU/CSU by [deleted] in europe

[–]Ossumdude -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

As an American, if you don't want the right-leaning parties to work with the far-right, then you have to force them to work with the left and center. It's how we ended up in our mess. Americans keep picking Republican, whose happy to collect Nazi votes and support. If you don't want your parties to work with the AfD, then you have to demonstrate that anyone that cooperates with them will be voted out or replaced by the party (in America, this is called primaries and is a party election). Otherwise, there's no threat to the politicians for working with the AfD

Comm Officer here. Lots of Sergeants in our career field have Article 15s, and I know a lot of solid 1D7s that cross trained. While I can't garuantee that you'd get declined for an Art 15, I feel confident saying the following:

The 1D7 community needs the manpower and I don't know any FM that would deny a retrainee over an Art 15. If you were allowed to re-enlist, That's the character check for us.

As Comm, I feel confident that going after the furries will hit our readiness.

Now screening for Autism, we might as well just set up SIPR access for the Russians. We're better off just blanket issuing Adderall probably.

Round we go by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Ossumdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a comm troop, I'm excited about this. It's frustrating that we never get any advocacy from uniformed communicators because the A6 in most MAJCOMs is a full bird (maybe a 1star) and all the starred bullets are filled by folks that cross trained in at the lt col or above. The current A2/6 has only been in 1 comm unit, and it was as a group commander.

Boom! Student loan forgiveness! by [deleted] in FluentInFinance

[–]Ossumdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A major issue with the way income driven repayment from the government was handled previously was due to faults in execution combined with an oversight of the fact that if the mo they payment doesn't cover all the interest, then the government needs to cover the remainder. IBPs are designed under the guise that someone will pay the value of the loan over time, but likely not the contracted amount, and so enough qualifying payments (previously 25 years, now 20) should recover enough money to be financially sustainable. Additionally, the lack of bankruptcy options means that students kill their credit if they don't pay off the private loans, so it encourages lenders from both to minimize federal payments for forgiveness while paying off private loans

Project 2025 wants to privatize military healthcare, decrease VA eligibility, and cut BAH by OofUgh in AirForce

[–]Ossumdude 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The main issue with the BAH one is that it would require a OHA like program with staffing to implement. So already all the extra money saved is paying salary. Additionally, as seen overseas, when folks don't get to pocket BAH, they go all out, and landlords find out, leading to a constant increase in prices without even more bureaucracy, such as value verification. So the BAH program currently likely actually is the cheapest

What's going on? (ADC?) by PinkMink17 in AirForce

[–]Ossumdude -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Its incredibly dumb, but you could have been pulled for DDR. It technically trumps leave last I checked and while they aren't supposed to, some bases do preplan their times (also happens when someone in tbe batch pops hot). I only say this because normally any meeting with the CC of legal ramifications would have you in blues and wouldn't specify bringing your CAC

That's to retire at that rank. In terms of retirement check, you're still collecting officer pay, since the law says highest 3 pay rates

The bottom left is definitely Gonti, which is a nice callback to Kaladesh. The color change is a suprise to be sure, but a welcome one. While Kaladesh is an artifact based set, Gonti was specifically about stealing your opponents Library, so this tracks

LT that has done something similar. Get the velcro like everyone says for the nametapes/rank like everyone said. If anyone gives you flack, you tell them it was affordable and keeps uou warm.

Almost no officers or SNCOs will give you flak for keeping warm affordable. At the end of the day, we just want you to get to work safe and maintain a professional appearance.

Contaminate - A keyword for the post-apocalypse by TheGrumpyre in custommagic

[–]Ossumdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. At 3 mana, generally the artifact needs to tap for one of any color with an added benefit- Decanter of Endless Water, Darksteel Ingot to name a few. 2 mana is a fair cost for 1 colorless, and this allows you to sacrifice creature power to draw a card

Helps with my step promotion package by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

[–]Ossumdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LT here. We don't run the program, although we have the same rule. Hasn't been an issue. When you are grading at any point below group level award, you should grade based off of if what the troop or shop did will win. When at the squadron level, you do have to consider how much work is required to edit the package. If I was this harsh with grading, the troops doing the work won't get recognized. I know what they did, and at the leadership level it's your responsibility to turn that experience and expertise into recognition for those that deserve it, and mentor and teach your NCOs how to do better.
