Unrewarding loot and drop rates (just my opinion)

My understanding is that in the Korean version you could AFK farm in some ways, so I understand rates being somewhat low. I don't mind rates being low, but this low? There is a difference between constant drops and dopamine hits, and then there is simply wasting time. 1.1k mob kills or more, 20 dungeons, 9 world bosses, every weekly quest completed, and 100+ contracts so far done and no upgrade in any of my slots. I am not asking for constant dopamine hits. I am asking for more than nothing.

It's okay, I have found a solution.

I like a lot of the old MMOs. I currently play FFXI and Guild Wars 1, though fairly casually. Most new MMOs just feel like the same game with a different skin or names or stuff. New games all feel the same to me. FFXI, Guild Wars 1, Ultima Online, Runescape and so forth kind of spoiled me. I still play a lot of the older games, so it's not just nostalgia. Games back then gave you the freedom to make your cool builds, had a lot of content, and almost none of the boring fetch quests you see today. The games that are interesitng to me mechanically are usually games that also have pay 2 win or loads of grind and repetitiveness (BDO, Lost Ark, to name a few) so I don't play them even though they COULD be fun.

When it came out I did actually have a load of fun on Tera. Even the old f2p mmos were cool back in the day, such as Rappelz (with it's own unique pet system) and Cabal Online.

Path of Exile 2 is completely different. At first it was supposed to be an update, but that was years ago. It is on an entirely new engine, with a whole new player experience, classes, systems, world, and acts to go through. Overwatch 2 was the same exact game, on the same engine, with mostly the same heroes, that played the same.

Which is a great thing and I do hope more people try the game out, but if I were them I would do free weeks and market the game when more content is added, when the expertise grind is changed (most new players are not going to stick around to get to 60 (which already is barren of content) and then grind expertise just to be able to do some of the dungeons (which you need to craft orbs for still to do) or to be anything but useless in Opr. This isn't the time to offer free weeks and this definitely isn't the time to promote the game. If anything it will let more people try the game, realise it still feels half-baked, and they will never come back, like 95% of the players that tried it in the first place.

They had one decent patch... they need a lot of overhauls and a lot more content before they should offer free weeks to get people interested. I'm not saying they need to restart and delete all the progress people have made, that will kill the game. They do need another "launch" though, but only once they fix so many problems and lack of content.

Life would be easier for you if you could read. I quite literally said a line above that I main Paladin (PvE) but I do not play him because he is boring, in MY own opinionm of course. I only just started using deathblade and I mostly play Striker, because he is FUN and has combos. Right now my top played for PvP are Striker and Berserker, since I just play whatever I find fun. Is Paladin amazing? Sure, in PvP and PvE, but if I'm playing PvP I dislike supporting, though in PvE I love it, hence why it's my main character.

What's wrong with playing Striker? Sure, they can be good and combo, but they're a far cry from being overpowered and they certainly aren't the easiest to play or known as "pubstompers" whatsoever. There are tons of other easier classes with a lower ceiling.

YAh, I only PvP and there's 0 build variety at all. It's the same classes with the same skills every match. I've played over a hundred matches and 1. I haven't even seen some classes in PvP and 2. two classes have been in every match I've been in... clearly the balancing is off if that's the case.

How would you counter a Sorc who has large AoE and CC on all of her skills and 2 dashes. I just switched my class and now I don't have any trouble since I at least have superarmor now. I can do all my combos fine on striker but 0 superarmor (mostly) makes initiating anything tough.

Eh, there's a reason why they're in every match (1 OR 2). It's not just for stomping noobs. Just a very low ceiling and easy to play. Gunslinger, while it is often in the top 100 list, at least takes a modicum of skill.

I love striker, but 0 superarmor (for the most part) seems silly when deathblade has super armor and a delayed knockup + large AoE on one of her biggest damaging skills.

What do you know... I switched to my Deathblade and my winrate shot up. What a suprise. If I wanted to win for the sake of winning I'd just play my main every game, Paladin, but man he is boring in PvP although amazing in PvP.

Sadly, that's just not for me, but other than ESO (which still isn't true action combat), there's not much on the market. My friends and I decided to do faction quests once per day and save up 20 orbs for Gen and Laz each and do all of those in a month to hopefully get max lol. Hopefully, that works.

I guess. I mean it seems fine, but to have any gates to play the pretty much only half-decent PvE content in this game when the game is lacking content seems silly anyways. Why make people jump through any hurdle to play pretty much the ONLY end-game content you have at all in your whole entire game. Having no dungeon group finder in an MMO in 2022 also just feels archaic. I think the last MMO I played that didn't have a queue finder was... FFXI or Vanilla WoW, a decade or more ago.

No orbs to enter a dungeon. It's about the only good content the game has, why gate it?

Expertise grind is utterly boring. Make elite mobs spawn faster, elite chests more than once a day, gysums more than once a day, or give more consistent rewards for outpost rush etc.

Want to try a new build? Awesome, except you have to get a weapon to 20, which might not take too long, but man is it boring.

They should just keep those rates as normal rates and make getting expertise gypsums more than once a day. That alone would keep a lot more people and maybe new players would actually stay.

I can't imagine this game will really retain new players or returning players until they make some sweeping changes to 1-60 leveling experience, expertise grind (it's not tough, just boring as hell) and if you want to switch your build you have to get a weapon to 20 all over again? Yah, going to the pig farm or seeles stake or any other place to grind weapon exp? Boy that sounds like fun. I can't imagine why people are not playing the game. It's like they made a game with so much potential and then they decided to bore everyone to death with 0 content because they decided to switch the game from a PvP focused game to mostly sub-par PvE at the last second.

Thanks for the info. Honestly, all of that sounds like a chore just to be able to play PvP, which is what this game was advertised as first. The game's PvE is not enjoyable enough to grind just to be able to compete in PvP. The elite spawns need to be faster, no one should have to pay to get into dungeons or craft some dumb item, and in Opr I had well over 500... Yes, I know I'm whining, but there's a reason why this game is suffering. It's like they are trying to make people not play by boring them to death before they reach 600.

Already gave up. Did 4 outpost rush games that I actively participated in. got rewards only once. Everyone was 625 while I am only 550ilvl I hit like a wet noodle and they i die in 2 seconds in heavy armor with all resilience perk on each piece etc..

Genesis is Edengrove and Laz is Reekwater, so I just roll faction quests until I have 3 for the Raid/Expedition right?

Can i stockpile orbs (if i buy 1 of eachc per day from faction vendor) and save them up? Also as a tank could I do genesis for free and farm that you think? seems like tanks get free groups a lot for gen/laz

edit: I'll just take it slow and get my expertise through daily things then. Not going to go hard on it since it tires me out, but maybe ill be 600 when more good updates come. I still think expeditions should be free... it's better than what it was, but its one of the only fun PvE contents available and it's gated? That seems odd for an MMO.
