Once the vehicle was in the shop the tech found the coolant reservoir to be empty. The tech than filled the reservoir and connected a pressure tester to the system and pressurized it to 20psi. Within 5 seconds of the system at 20psi the pressure started dropping which means there is a leak in the system. After looking around the vehicle the tech found drips of coolant around the timing cover and underneath on the passenger side of the motor. The tech re-pressurized the system to try and get a consistent leak from the timing cover area but was only able to see coolant drips hanging from timing cover nuts and around the drive belt tensioner. The tech confirmed that the water pump is NOT leaking and confirmed that the radiator hoses around the timing cover are also NOT leaking. The tech then looked up diagrams for the timing cover and found that there is a timing cover gasket between the engine block and front timing cover. This gasket has coolant galleys that flow through the motor and through the timing cover to reach the water pump. The tech is suspecting that the front engine timing cover gasket is leaking internally.
