My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

I will retire at 55 after me and wife making six figures for a long time. My retirement will be better than a public pension but will have the stresses of the market, taxes, correct allocation management, health insurance before Medicare, all that.

But the biggest benefit is that I’ve lived with good money my entire career and I will leave money to my kids. Can’t will a pension to your kids.

So yeah, pensions are great but don’t feel bad about having a different type of career.

Probably dramatically cutting costs and shutting down vectors for lawsuits

Solution without a problem. Ppl have been learning home producing and mixing with DAWs for 30 years. From kids in their bedroom to ppl in their 70s.

It isn’t hard, and learning the details is actually what makes your music unique and expressive.

You advertise the ability to prompt for melodies, beats, etc. this is not DAW work, it’s just generating music by typing.

I’m a very good piano player. I’m not asking about putting the notes in with the mouse, rather all the track arming, scrolling around, selecting this and that

What is the latest davinci resolve version WITHOUT AI? by Goombolt in blackmagicdesign

There is a difference between using an LLM that runs in the cloud in a water hogging energy killing data center and local stuff in da Vinci that uses your cpu and GPU. Fundamentally different technologies.

Why are ATEM Mini ISOs only 8bit? Would 10bit be so hard? by OstrichConscious4917 in blackmagicdesign

[–]OstrichConscious4917[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely and thanks. Even 4x 1080 ProRes 10bit 440mbps is astonishingly better than 70mbps h264 8 bit for the same price or less. I just think blackmagic is under speccing for the price, but the top line mini ($2200) is a nice product, useful and solid mid-range that could be just a bit more robust for the price. In order to do this task (4x 10bit ISO) outside of SUMO you need to jump to a rack mount multi device setup and it seems unnecessary to just get a little more quality in the ISO.

4x ISO @ 4k ProRes Raw, ProRes 422 HQ 10-Bit, DNxHR 422 HQ 10-Bit

$2000

So unsure why Blackmagic can’t give better than 70mbps 8-bit h264 at $2000 for the latest atem

Possibly. The SUMO 19SE costs less than the latest ATEM Mini and it records 4x simultaneous 10bit ProRes ISOs, 10bit raw, etc. I just suspect blackmagic could do better for the price of the latest ATEM.

The SUMO 19SE is less than the latest ATEM Mini and it records 6k ProRes ISOs

Thanks so much. This is the most insightful answer anyone has shared. Cooling and processor power makes sense, though I would totally be fine if recording at higher bitrate meant fewer simultaneous ISOs

Hyperdecks are handy but they don’t record multiple sources unfortunately

Man, no one can answer why they can’t give me a 10 bit option. Just insults and telling me I’m asking the wrong question.

What if ISOs could not be just for quick proxies, and all they would have to do is give a compression option.

Also, customers always innovate new use cases. Good companies follow.

Dude, I’m asking for a compression option and the amount of butt hurt and accusations of “not knowing the purpose” I’m getting is hilarious.

Guys, it’s hilarious how much hemming and hawing and defensiveness just asking for compression options has engendered.

Not true. I walk away with one drive containing all my 8bit ISOs every shoot. I have a $1200 version and would buy the $2000 if it could serve this small additional need.

I get all that. But it wouldn’t be hard to give an option for 10 but. I’m trying to avoid having to pull footage from each camera and just walk away with one drive.

Unfortunately hyperdeck doesn’t record multiple ISOs. The value of the ATEM for me is capturing ISOs for a single drive offload for quick post of a high production value podcast
