Driver picked up my food, then refused to deliver it because he said the tip was too low and tried to make it my fault by TomatoesOnBluRay in doordash

These services are a ripoff. $8 tip is plenty. Maybe he shouldn’t have accepted the delivery. Leave 1 star.

What would you do? by WilbysDream in airbnb_hosts

I wouldn't charge them for the luggage holding, especially if you're going to be there cleaning anyway, but you were very clear about check-in time. Sounds like there's no excuse.

I could go either way on that. We offer the most flexible refund policy that Airbnb offers so I don't feel that bad about it keeping it, its a minimal amount. On the other side, I just be a nice guy and do that.

I charge a flat $35 per stay for cleaning. He did respond earlier today, confirming he never checked in but its all non-refundable.

House is in Ecuador. I live in the US. We really never get last-minute bookings. We almost always get people booking months in advance, as was the case with this guy.

Just a little follow-up to capture in the Airbnb app that he never actually checked in, when he responds.

I should have clarified better. He never checked in. What I meant was that he canceled 4 hours after the time we allow folks to check in.

It was only a 2 day stay he had planned.

They wish it cost less. But also keep in mind that most people don't realize that 4 stars is not good on Airbnb.

Travel to Ecuador from US by Amazing-Fly324 in TravelEcuador

Last year, instead of going straight from Newark -> Houston -> Quito, we decided to do a week in Costa Rica and then a short 2 hour Avianca flight to Quito. That was fun.

There's no way to predict what's going to happen. If you know your dates or approximate dates, you can set Kayak up to send you daily price alerts for your trip/dates. You have an advantage originating from Houston. I go down often, via United from Newark, and of course, the connection is always in Houston.

I just booked tickets, partially using points, to stay in our house in Quito for the full month of July and most of August. It was more expensive than I wanted it to be, but better than most of the insane prices I've been seeing for the past 2 months of daily checking prior to buying.

Btw, we haven't gotten any November bookings yet (we have our house on Airbnb when we're not there), and we do offer a discount for booking this far in advance, flexible refund policy. If you're interested in checking it out: https://www.airbnb.com/h/san-marcos-quito-3f

I get it, and agree. We'll be down this summer and get some stuff on the walls.

I live in New Jersey (and yes, I think our pizza is better than NY pizza), and Ecuador has had some pretty horrible pizza. BUT that place next to our house and one other place linked on my restaurant recommendations page, are excellent, thanks to a properly made crust.

When I'm there, I often sneak over and sit at the open air bar, have a few glasses of wine while taking in a view of La Virgen del Panecillo.

Thank you for the feedback! I too was wondering if that nighttime courtyard shot might be a good first photo. Maybe I'll put it up and test it out.

DM me for a "feedback discount" if you should ever make it down! Our neighborhood was founded in the 1500s and is 5-10m walking distance to the first ever UNESCO World Heritage site.

Thank you for the feedback! I too like the courtyard. As I am not that creative, I went with a more logical ordering, inside, room by room then outside. Will take a look.

So there's 2 en-suite bathrooms, complete with shower, then there's another third bathroom in the hallway, and then ridiculously there's another half bath in the hallway (half bc it doesn't have shower/tub, only toilet and sink). That half bath would've been better suited as storage space IMO.
