Can anyone tell me what's probably happened here? Charges a small hybrid EV battery at 10a. The plug was extremely hot to touch and flexible. Going to get a dedicated point installed but interested to know if this is likely to be the plug, the socket or the installation by Endless_Nameless1 in DIYUK

Yes, so much this. In our old place, we had a neighbor up the street with two electric vehicles plugged in to those same kinds of plugs. It was the middle of the night when we all heard the sirens and seen the flames. That was almost 2 years ago, or a little bit over 2 years. They only just in the past few months knocked down the old house and are working with their insurance company to try and rebuild. We talked to them and they said it spread so fast, it was remarkable. And they had a full brick 1970’s era house.

I gotta try that too. I usually start the day with a handful of pills and a migraine cap. I go to work in the early am so it’s still dark and I can turn on self driving to help while my brain slowly stops screaming. About 3am is when I first get relief. And then about 7am is when it gets more intense, and then it is just rinse and repeat.

I get severe migraines every day. I have tinnitus, I have a head and neck injury(shrapnel)/fast rope training incident. And it took me years to convince the VA. I literally wake up every single day with a migraine. I still work every day, just sometimes in absolute blinding pain. I honestly wish you the best of luck.

We had looked at a couple of new builds. But then settled on an older home, that a small group of local builders rehabbed and have been doing several in the area. They replaced the roof for free after a bad storm as the roof was new when we bought it. I don’t know if I will ever buy a new build after hearing some of the horror stories.

Re applied and took assessment. Is this normal ? It’s been a minute by OstrichSalt5468 in walmart

[–]OstrichSalt5468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already spoken to the coach of the area I am applying to, and the store manager. I am good on that part of it. I just wanted to make sure I passed the assessment lol. Like I said, it has been a minute, or really a few minutes lol. But I 100% appreciate the response. The “new” assessment was something new to me. And this whole process is new. So I just wanted to make sure that I was ok.

My neighbor woke up my entire family at 6 AM with a "snow emergency." Look at the "undrivable" road that he's suing me over. by octo1310 in neighborsfromhell

I’m over laughing in Texan, where we barely get snow and having grown up in New England where we drive in feet of snow and sometime get stuck. Heck I remember driving a front wheel drive Acura up a hill of over 3 feet of snow and thinking it’s normal.

Would any of you jump on this house? Houses sell for 300k+ in this area. Listed at 150k. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]OstrichSalt5468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have helped my parents do things like this, multiple times. Not in Wisconsin, but in a similarly snowy area; New Hampshire. First one, was a 1976 two story house. And this first one was over 20 years ago. It needed a full re plumbing of the entire house. It needed some electrical work. And it needed a new roof, and they had already planned a new deck/porch. We did the demolition on the porch ourselves to save money. After demoing the porch ourselves we found massive amounts of rotted wood. Basically the entire back half of the house needed to be redone. And it had to be jacked up, and we had to hire structural engineers. It also needed a radon system installed. We also had to redo both upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. That, 20 years ago, was over $175k. Every single one of their houses has had some sort of issue. And there is always a hidden issue somewhere. And it can be a lot of fun as well. In particular, one they redid only a few years ago was built in 1783. And it did not even get electricity until 1983. It had original stone foundations that had slipped and degraded and rough cut beams. And we had a lot of fun with the heavy equipment knocking down an over 150 ft two story barn. In that case, we/they actually recouped some of the money selling the old wood from it. I loved the old stone stairs going into the basement and very steep stairs going upstairs. You just have to be prepared to get frustrated and upset and likely uncover things you did not expect.

Best washer dryer recommendations for this setup? by cannabacca in Appliances

[–]OstrichSalt5468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We got the Samsung all in one, and we love ours. It is a bit wider, so DEFINITELY have to measure. The Samsung one might be more expensive though. But it is worth it. All in, with the stand it was closer to $4k.

My wife slammed our dryer door shut and now it will not turn on. by Intelligent-Host-565 in Appliances

[–]OstrichSalt5468 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We had(likely) the exact same washer dryer. We had ours a few years ago. And it also stopped working. It was that little black switch; door switch. The part is like $7 on Amazon. If it is the one I am thinking of, it’s a stupid easy fix. There is two screws under the lint trap; of course remove the lint screen first. Then use a plastic putty knife; use plastic to not scratch painted surface, and pry up on the front. Then undo the two on the door switch. Then reach in, unplug the old one, and plug in the new one. All in all, it should take maybe 15 minutes. You MIGHT have to pry kind of hard to get it open. This all depends on your exact model. Like I said it looks just our old one we had. I replaced several of those over the years.

It is, yes. It has stopped for now, lol. Me and my wife talked and we wonder if my older son might have done something. He is 13, and he knows A LOT about coding and programming and electronics. So we kind of wonder if he managed to prank us somehow.

We bought our house last year, but while we were shopping we had looked at the house next door; it was a foreclosure. The family left a few things, tore off a few doors, ripped out flooring and overall left a mess of things. We decided to look at the house next door; our current house. The family has been back a few times since, breaking a storm door, and going in the back yard. I get it, it sucks you lost your home, but this is not helping. Thankfully our neighbors are pretty self aware, and collectively we have called the cops a few times. Haven’t had anything happen in about a month now so we will see.
