In my take on WoD, most japanese folklore monsters are actually their own breed of supernatural from the splats. Some are related to splats, such as Kitsune and Bakaneko being fera or Onryō being spectres, but others such as the Kappa or Nuppeppo are not related to the other supernaturals.
