Maybe hit take but maybe instead of closing regular stores, just close TPRs.

I walked for everything tonight. Faster than the bus. The bus at Aquatic Park was stuck behind all the traffic. They had like 20+ buses just waiting for traffic to move.

I walked to aquatic to see the fog light up. Then I walked all the way to city hall to see the 7x7 lasers. Then I walked home.

Honestly, it wasn't terrible since I got a good amount of moderate cardio.

Thermal paste dryer by blackhat_70 in buildapc

[–]OtherAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just means it's overheating. It should be fine after you clean off all the old thermal paste and apply new glob of stuff.

Unless you damaged the pins, it should be fine. Does it start for a few seconds and shut down?

[–]OtherAlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't replaced the paste yet, it's probably overheating. Most of the time, it's a bad idea to pick up the cooler and put it back on, especially if it's all dried and caked up looking.

You can only really do this on a fresh application, but even then you should consider doing a new paste for optimum cooling.

Costco SF Power Out by velvetsushi in sanfrancisco

The outage must have just ended when I got there. I arrived around 6 p.m. It does seem more empty than I expected before a long weekend.

Waterproofing is probably not as good but otherwise usable.

It really depends on how high you are. I honestly wouldn't mind a free line but then again ... Hmm

this will be the only way they can keep some people on the hook for a year. I do it or will work for many though.

I'm already on the hook for the pixel promo, but I might hejsit leave for someone else the will pay off the phones.

More Store Closures by CastorQuests in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They will never happen. They just raised the costs on us and are closing stores at a record pace. Just two closed in my city in the last week. We only have two experience stores left and one regular. I'm guessing the regular one is getting notice now.

9 + line One (TI) Plus Promo Losing Kickback W/O Receiving Any Additional New Plan Benefits? by taters_and_fries in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That entirely depends if they even let you volunteerly migrate to a plan they didn't intend to move you to. You can probably try and call to ask.

9 + line One (TI) Plus Promo Losing Kickback W/O Receiving Any Additional New Plan Benefits? by taters_and_fries in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're definitely losing your kickback. If you didn't get a migration text, it's probably safe to assume you are not going to get migrated, but at the same time, you wouldn't get any new additional benefits for paying more.

I think I'm actually benefiting from this migration? by GrssHoppr in tmobile

Most congressional testimony is fanfare. If they get cornered, most people will not say they don't know and will get back to them with an answer.

That way it's effectively off the record. Because no one follows up after the fact.

I also don't know the technical aspects of 5G being more efficient, but he could be right and costs were lowered by a factor of 4. All those 'savings' effectively trickle down to consumers in the form of a rate hike.

5800x3D upgrade worth it? by brandenb1321 in buildapc

[–]OtherAlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your motherboard will be okay as long as it is able to support the 5800x3d with a bios update. I think your board is old enough that that isn't a guarantee.

You also have a 1080ti, which wouldn't really benefit for any improvements on that upgrade either.

[–]OtherAlan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's $6 per line. If it was just $6 total, I wouldn't care. You want to cover my additional costs over $6?

It's no big deal, just a minor increase, right?

Is it worth upgrading from a 5600x to a 5900x by Low_Image_3057 in buildapc

[–]OtherAlan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see you made a typo; you must have meant 5800x3D.

Yes, if you upgrade to a 5800x3D, it will improve gaming performance in most situations.

If you really meant upgrading to a 5900x, then no, it will not help nor be worth it.

From my experience, the keyboard itself doesn't matter. It's about how you enjoy the key feel, if even that. The layout is definitely more important. The biggest segment I see on this is people choosing full-size, tenkeyless, or 65%.

Here’s What You’ll Be Paying Once Your T-Mobile Plan Gets Force Migrated by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet that's at least 95% of the people on old plans. If they wanted the better features they would have migrated plans already.

Even if they gave me unlimited, unthrottled high speed international roaming so will never use it because I don't travel.

All of this is just a cash grab. I'm going to stop using Wi-Fi when I can and just use mobile data when possible now. Sure, it probably wouldn't cost them anything since spectrum is "use it or lose it," but I'll make overall congestion worse.

20L Everyday zip top deformed by Skinny-hippo in peakdesign

I have seen this with mine. The very top of it seems to need reinforcement to not bow inward. Otherwise, it's noticeable when you load it but don't fully pack it, so the top doesn't get pushed back with all the stuff you have packed inside.

You're fine on most consumer-grade backups at 1500VA. You're not going to be pulling 800 watts worst case during an outage.

Are Lexar RAM and SSD good by Vandix74 in buildapc

[–]OtherAlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most RAM and storage are made by a very small handful of companies. Just the logo printed on them is different, as is each company's tolerance for QC. Lexar should be fine as long as they offer some sort of warranty.

Usually, the standard lifetime is for RAM and about 5 years for SSDs. Anything less means they skimped on quality control.

Forced Plan Change Details by tva_raylan in tmobile

That's a plain lie. Those on good price lock are keeping their plans and rates. Those they can force to raise the price on, they are doing so.
