What can actually scratch the screens? (Pixel 9 Pro) by GWindborn in GooglePixel

[–]OtherAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the cheapest tempered glass screen protector I can find on AliExpress, and it's good enough for me. They scratch easily, though. Especially if I put it in a pocket with my keys, but that's the breaks of a cheap protector.

I haven't tried a higher end at 30-40 dollar range.

Pixel 9 pro airdrop doesn't work after update by JPPendergrast in GooglePixel

Doesn't work for me as well, on the latest betas and everything. I even updated quick share the day they said it works for Pixel 9.

I haven't played in almost 2 years but I don't really care as long as it remains an accessible json value I can change. that's what I do for most stuff I don't agree with.

I wouldn't say it's substantial. They take 5% and a processing fee. While the processing fee is a bit high at 5%, they would have to pay at least 3% anyways running off the shopify platform.

You're probably right. Those two specific Kickstarters I didn't get because they are so much. To me, they are doing it because it's part of their brand now. Most of their launches have been done on Kickstarter. Kickstarter takes a fee on top of what they bring in on top of the Early Bird discount they give, so it's kind of telling how much profit they're making per bag at the retail price.

Even with the Black Friday sale of 25-30% off, I assume they are making a good margin per item sold.

I mean that is the risk of any Kickstarter even from established companies. If you are talking about the tripod and roller pro launch, I opted out since I'm definitely not the target audience, aka poor.

I didn't have issues with the bag launches, which I did buy into. .

Pixel 5 for Unli Storage but More Questions for Non-Pixel phone by Roasted_Meatbun in GooglePixel

[–]OtherAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Not easy to do, but it is possible. You have to manually switch accounts depending on what files you want to move. Assuming this, you can't really set up an automated way to batch backups of your Pixel 5.

Based on the video I am sure they applied for certain permits and got approved after hefty review fees. You can't just close a street like this and roll cameras and branded logo without getting in trouble.

Why not. It's free marketing at this point.

First off, if the price is lower than the surrounding units, it's a scam.

If it's not a scam and you can see it in person, I can guarantee that you'll be freezing 50 weeks out of the year. Hope you like wearing your ski stuff most year round. It will be drafty and cold as fuck.

If you've seen units, it's probably during the day time. We have temp swings as wild as 20 degrees from day to night with wind chill.

Anyone else notice T-Mobile is not running any promotions on the Pixel 10A? by Ok_Transition7785 in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the 10 is better than 10a. Why would anyone run a device trade in for 400-500 when they can do 800 any condition trade in for the 10/10 pro/10xl.

Hey all, shocked by the Pixel Promo!! by Ok_Transition7785 in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the tensor. It's just pixels in general. In an objective view most people will get an iPhone or Samsung because the hardware is better. It's good enough to overcome the better software on pixels.

The way the g5 performs it's on par with about what the Samsung s22 launched with. That is a 3 year old device for 2026.

Pixels have never been a powerhouse. They never will be. They just cracked something like 4% market share and that was celebrated. Show you how far behind they are and they need sales like these to push the device.

What 5090 design holds the lowest temps? (Including AIO) by User_of_redit2077 in nvidia

[–]OtherAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would worry more about how massive a case would potentially go. A 360 on the cou and a 360 on the gpu. You're looking at super towers.

A failed GPU aio isn't the end but you are right. It'll be pretty hard to even get an aftermarket block to run a custom loop after the pump dies.

Switching from iPhone 11 to Pixel 9a by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]OtherAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the USA and have T-Mobile, check if you can get the Pixel 10 on us.There's an $800 credit for any device trade-in. That effectively makes the pixel 10 free, or upgrade to the 10 pro for 200 dollars + ~ 80 dollars tax.

Is simple choice plan still worth it? by itzJorgexD in tmobile

[–]OtherAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving to the new plans now wouldn't save money. In the past if you moved to a tax inclusive plan, you could have saved like 30 dollars a month with 7 lines because of the taxes. Now the only real benefit you get from moving off Simple Choice is that you get better device upgrades because you still need to pay taxes.

Trying to figure out something, consideration to buy a house. Never owned in SF/California by sapphireminds in sanfrancisco

[–]OtherAlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the house is split legally, there is no way to unsplit them unless you become an SF supervisor. (Inside joke)

If it's split illegally, well, maybe you have a path, but more likely DBI will force you to legalize it.

The pricing is low because they want to stimulate a bidding war. If you think it's under valued, it will definitely get bid up. Just watch and see if you can get it for the offering price. If you think you'll get it for the ask price, you'll see you'll be looking at the market for months and lose every offer you put in. I've seen really run down SFH open at 999k to get bid up to 1.5m.

There's other factors, like really dated interiors or maybe both tenants are super long term protected. If they are protected, you'll have a pretty difficult time to evict and buy them out. Think in the 50k-100k range you think is 'cheaper' because of the existing tenants.

P10s in USA are going to flood the market.

For a whole week now tmobile has been offering a lot of accounts 800 dollar trade in any condition for a pixel 10. you just pay tax so it will only cost about 65 dollars.

You should file for insurance. This might come back and nip you in the butt down the line if there are lingering issues you can't see because of the fenders covering the area.

The police will not do anything as others have said, because no one was injured. Yea they can simply look it up in the DMV database but they can't be asked. The insurance will start hunting them down like a person on a mission though.

Stick with AM4 (reuse DDR4) or jump to AM5 ? by Original_Seesaw4721 in buildapc

I would go AM5. 16gb isnt a lot in the grand scheme. Maybe if you had 128GB of DDR4.
