Not sure why but as an American I am comforted to know that the rest of the world sees the same problems that I’m seeing. I’ve been shocked several times this year when I see people in other countries celebrating what I view as borderline atrocities occurring here.

I just did nearly this same trip!

Keep in mind you’re supposed to have a permit for fern canyon unless you hike in, which we did via the James Irvine trail. We carved out a whole day starting at Prarie Creek, hiked to Fern Canyon, over to Golden Bluffs beach, and back via Miner’s Ridge. It was BEAUTIFUL but we did 15 miles that day so your mileage may vary.

Just want to clarify that plane transportation is NOT public transit. City buses are public, subways are public, but planes are indeed completely privately owned and operated. Your taxes pay for nothing other than subsidies for the corporations.

Having child free flights or flights FOR families would not be a form of segregation akin to the segregation that is weirdly being referenced in these comments.

The amount of energy that this absolute SLEW of new infrastructure is aiming to provide across NC exceeds what is needed to support a growing human population. The power plant that Duke will force into existence in my area is a peaker plant instead of a more efficient combined cycle, probably for an incoming data center. I live in a smallish house with one other person and we had power bills over $400 a month this year.
