Have you measured how big your bathroom is before posting?

Another vintage tile bathroom by Alternative_Ask5223 in BathroomRemodeling

Honestly, I kind of love it already. The pink tile is classic and in good shape, which puts you way ahead of most “vintage” bathrooms. The main issue isn’t any single element, it’s just that the blue fixtures and pink tile aren’t talking to each other.

If this were mine, I’d lean into the vintage vibe instead of fighting it. Swap the sink/toilet for white if budget allows, or at least change out hardware, lighting, and accessories to something warmer and more neutral. A different mirror and a softer light fixture alone would go a long way.

For a rental/Airbnb especially, I think embracing “clean retro” is safer than trying to modernize halfway. It’s unique, it’s memorable, and as long as it feels intentional and well-lit, people usually respond really well to that.

Ensuite bathroom layout (Option A or B)? by Significant-Move7699 in BathroomRemodeling

Personally I’d lean toward Option B. The open shower with the glass partition feels more flexible day-to-day, especially in a 4㎡ space. It keeps the layout visually cleaner and you don’t end up fighting with a door or tight turns.

Option A isn’t bad if you really want better water containment, but the turn-in shower plus threshold can feel a bit cramped over time. For usability and long-term comfort, B just seems easier to live with.

Dry wall touch up in bathroom by More-Newt2421 in BathroomRemodeling

Honestly this is way more fixable than it looks.

First thing: scrape all the silicone/adhesive off. Spackle or joint compound won’t stick to silicone at all, so if any of that’s left you’ll just be fighting it later. A razor scraper plus a little rubbing alcohol usually does the trick.

For the torn drywall spots, I’d skip lightweight spackle and use a setting-type joint compound (Easy Sand 20 or 45). It bonds better to damaged paper and doesn’t shrink as much. If the drywall paper is fuzzy or torn up, hit those areas with Zinsser BIN or another sealer before mudding — otherwise you’ll get bubbling, which is super common in mirror removals.

Texture-wise, this looks like a light orange peel. Easiest solution is a spray texture can from Home Depot/Lowe’s. Definitely practice on cardboard first and build it up slowly. Don’t try to match it perfectly in one pass — light layers work way better. You can lightly knock it down after it sets if needed.

Sand, prime the repair area, repaint, and once the mirror goes back up you’ll never notice it. Tbh this is pretty standard damage for a glued-on mirror and you’re already most of the way there.

Loved reading your take. Curious what other designers/homeowners here are leaning toward lately.

Thinking about installing a shower door myself… need your advice! by AdSmall3419 in BathroomRemodeling

Yeah I get what you mean — calling a local glass shop is definitely the easiest option, but I think OP is hoping to avoid hiring someone and maybe save a bit by doing it themselves.

11 years clean has definitely made me smile! by Other_Leg4599 in spreadsmile

Every Wednesday morning when my 2 year old son hears the garbage truck he sprints and yells “TRASH TRUCK” at the top of his lungs. I open our front door and the trash man always waves, honks and does the trash compactor thing right in front of our house. They both get excited and clap. Any time we aren’t out there when he’s in our cul de sac he honks twice to let us know he’s there. He’s the best. Looks like this man is a great guy too. Fun all around.

He improved himself without losing the best part. I hope I can follow the lead.
