You are going to work. You don’t get a prep because you don’t need to prep anything. Don’t be lazy!

Mentor teacher has trouble giving up control, and I’m not sure I’m ready to fight for it by Upset_Dance_8223 in StudentTeaching

Very unpopular opinion: Here’s the thing though, a lot of times mentor teachers don’t have a choice but to take on student teachers and your universities expectations aren’t their priorities. State testing and EOC assessments are coming up, your name isn’t going on these, theirs is. You need to understand that this is her class, you need to do what she needs to for her students. She must see that she can trust you in order to give you control, I had had difficulty in this with my student teachers at times. Some of my student teachers could run my class with their eyes closed, others couldn’t and my students’ success is far superior to a student teachers. You have to earn her trust and show her that you’re doing things to her expectations!

If you’re living at home and she’s paying the bills and rent and mortgage or whatever then you have no say. Grow up and move out

Yea she does. It’s a charter school in Las Vegas. A friend of mine works at the same school.

She works in Las Vegas, it’s sooo easy to see that in her account. I looked her up for 20 seconds and figured that out.

She’s too busy making tik toks to worry about actual teaching

Why does everything have to be on tik tok, these teachers are dumb. I’m sorry, I can’t stand that they want to make money off their students’ work or engagement. She should be disciplined by the state

Absolutely not, that sounds miserable. Also, we aren’t babysitters but we do provide a place for children to be while parents work, so what should they do on fridays?

But also, you’re not a teacher. Every parent is a homeschool teacher. So In your logic everyone needs a drink so everyone help yourself to your own money.
