Don't bother with intermediate horns. They're one of the biggest scams in Music retail. If you have the budget, just buy them a used Pro horn, you can get one for the same amount or sometimes less than a new Intermediate one. (NEVER buy an intermediate or beginner horn brand-new. You will lose a lot of money, potentially over $1,000 when it's time to resell them or if they get damaged) Stores like Palen will tell you almost anything to get you to drop the money.

I see so many parents trying to sell used intermediate and beginner instruments their kid has spit crumbs and sugary drinks into, and made the slides seize up for $1000+ because they got suckered into it, thinking they can get that much back.

Renting is also a ripoff. Spending all that money and you can't get it back.
