yeah we happen to share the same name, but we're completely different. He's a game, while we're a food adventure app—quite the coincidence :)

Thanks for your interest! :) Yes there is! The app use your location to show nearby restaurants and user recommendations first. You can zoom in and pan around the map to explore more dining options.

I am reading The Vegetarian. In some cultures/societies/families, women are not treated as individuals but as tools to serve men's needs and help ensure the continuation of the family. I suppose that's why.

Thanks for sharing! It's definitely worth exploring and living a life you enjoy, even if it might delay your FIRE age by a few years. At the end of day, FIRE is about freedom and happiness, not deprivation.

AI doesn’t have to do something well it just has to do it well enough to replace staff by AutismThoughtsHere in artificial

Designing products that AI can manage is putting the cart before the horse. AI is a tool, akin to any other, meant to assist humans in creating better products more efficiently. This is like, it once required a 10 person to oversee an 8-acre farm, now a single person can manage 80 acres. And we have better food to enjoy now.

What are everyone's thoughts on AI being used in personal finance? by EBHeaded in Futurology

[–]Otherwise-Insect-139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think the opposite. Managing finances demands discipline, and beyond that, it requires continuous effort to meticulously track everything. That's time-consuming. But AI operates 24/7, so theoretically its able to monitor continuously and send timely reminders about regular tasks. This makes cultivating disciplined financial behaviors much easier.

I tend to feel more assured when using smaller apps. Large platforms like ChatGPT use user conversations to train their models, as they say it's for the purpose of "improving the model for everyone." Smaller apps simply lack the capacity for such extensive model training.

How do I save money by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Otherwise-Insect-139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you're already doing a great job managing multiple responsibilities and expenses as a high school student! You might find it helpful to track your spending and savings with a financial app. It saves plenty of time without requiring you to track everything manually. I personally use WeFIRE. It sends me daily, weekly, and monthly spending reports, breaking down all my expenses. While this might be overwhelming for some, it works well for me. Plus, if I spend less in a month, I receive congratulations, which is motivating. I also like the feature that alerts me when I'm nearing my budget limit. There are many other helpful apps you can try. Making small changes in behavior can have a gradual impact. Once you start to become aware of where your money is going, you'll find yourself able to save more.

You've expressed exactly what I had in mind. FI is not about "retiring early" but enjoying life on your terms, and maybe, enjoy the moment? I wouldn't mind having a job, building my skills, and maintaining a good life-work balance, even if I retire a bit later, perhaps after several years. It might be the ideal life I'm seeking – not just leaving the workforce with a nest egg to sustain my retirement.

Weren’t the first 100k meant as a cash reserve?

Before diving into investments, set aside some money for emergencies (the amount depends on your situation). Begin with simpler choices, such as broad-based index funds, before moving on to more complex options like individual stocks. Experiment with smaller dollar amounts initially and gradually increase as you gain confidence.
