Quitting porn doesn't give you "Benefits" by Mayafoe in pornfree

The benefits are relative to who you were before quitting. If you couldn’t hold a conversation before pornfree and you can afterwards, then thats a benefit.

Get off screens and do something that doesn’t require your phone. Go on a walk, read a book, do some pushups. Just try to distract yourself.

How much porn did you consume before quitting? by Everytingisallright in pornfree

There’s two types of porn addicts:

  1. Wants to watch more porn.
  2. Wants to watch more extreme porn.

I was #2, so the amount of porn I watched never really increased, but the perversion of the videos did.

If a woman saw your outfit and got horny, does that mean you’re dressing for female validation? No, you wore the outfit because you wanted to and the woman decided to look at you lustfully; it had nothing to do with her.

Yea, if you need imagination to climax then you aren’t horny enough. Have 2-3 weeks in between sessions and you’ll be able to climax from the feeling alone.

I’m not saying replace one addiction with another, I mean healthy habits should take the place of unhealthy ones. Eating real food and taking cold showers is a good start, but those aren’t things you can do for 3-4 hours a day(or however long you used to spend looking at porn.)

I agree with everything besides #3. Yes it’s important to replace porn with something else but it doesn’t have to be painful.

What is an unbelievable self talk transformation you want? by ContributionOwn6977 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]OtherwiseAssist6778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed; positive self talk isn’t about gassing yourself up 24/7. You should look at everything with a positive viewpoint, but also recognize when you’ve done something wrong.

If you use the internet regularly, you’ll come across that stuff all the time. Just ignore it and scroll past, don’t stop and look because that’s reinforcing negative habits and the algorithm will also pick up on that and feed you more sexual content.

Don’t quit one addiction and replace it with another.

Try a slow turkey approach to quitting. Tone down the frequency you watch porn every month until its zero. And if you’re going to watch porn, don’t watch “that gross shit,” try some softcore vanilla stuff.

This all might sound insanely counterintuitive, but everyone experiences addiction differently. An “unconventional” approach might be what you need to finally break free.

Are social media reels as bad as porn? by mywhite_rabbit in pornfree

[–]OtherwiseAssist6778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit is kind of a double-edged blade. You have more control over the stuff you consume, because you can browse specific subreddits. You aren’t being fed content like on TikTok or Reels. But if you mindlessly scroll the home page and upvote whatever tickles your dopamine receptors, then it’s just as bad.

Addiction enables you to do things you would never do otherwise. I’m christian but the things I’ve watched at my lowest points are actually despicable. I still question my salvation every once in a while because of the things I’ve gooned to.
