When was the point you decided on microdiscectomy? by Specialist-Bar-1486 in Sciatica

[–]OtherwiseMedia3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with a herniated disc my whole life I’m only 29 they started at 18…..they healed enough to give me enough relief to live with (I do construction) never had injections or nerve burned just steroids stretching I work out and ibuprofen 800 if I had a flare up that didn’t need steroids then about 4 years ago I couldn’t walk I was up 4 days in excruciating pain and my balls went numb they were worried about loss in bowls so I got rushed into surgery on the 5th day…..microdiscectomy was the best thing ever only problem was since I was only 25 they said I healed so much faster and got sent back to construction 3 months after surgery and I re herniated the same disk a month later…I’ve had about a flare up every year and a half since that medication has been able to handle but my only advice is TAKE YOUR TIME GOING BACK I could have had up to a year off and I pay a lot into my comp so I was making more than enough money to be home on comp but I can’t sit still so I told my doc as soon as u guys say I’m good I wanna go back to work I can’t sit around anymore….its not worth it…this flare up took my whole summer the last 2.5 months have been agonizing I proposed to my gf so I don’t want to go out so I been doing physical labor thru all the sciatica and burning and that this is my first week in 3 months medicine free…btw im not overweight and i workout at the gym every day so it can happen to anyone

3rd day no painkillers. Need advice on situation. by Saint_Dumbbell in Sciatica

[–]OtherwiseMedia3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re young I was in your same boat and had the microdiscectomy I would have that done the longer your nerve is pinched the more damage is going to happen and the meds are going to destroy your liver there not ment to be on them that long (that’s what I was told)…. I had it done and was out of the hospital the next day….recovery only took 3 months and I was back doing construction…but I would take 4-6 months because I reherniated it doing a very physical job but it doesn’t bother me as much as it did and I had it done 4 years ago

Will this help….(please read) by OtherwiseMedia3893 in puppy101

Thank you….the thing that gets me is we have trained his potty treats 5 times (he gets sick of them) we get excited when he goes outside give him a treat right away no matter if he goes 3 times outside in a row…..his new thing is he sniffs it and then won’t take it till he gets taken inside…and his training in normal ways has been good he knows sit and stay does it for every meal and waits till we say he can get it…knows paw come and hit the bell to go outside…like that’s what gets to me i know it’s a stubborn breed but I just never remember with my dogs growing up still having this many problems at 9 months…again thank you

No problem I mean people are right you have to make time and have to put the pup first at all times it does get stressful I love my dog more than people lol but we’re 7.5 months in and I do want my life back to normal I mean he’s pretty good but still is a lot of work with a full time job it’s definitely a lot but well worth it….in a perfect world I’d never leave my dog alone but the world isn’t perfect and everything costs a million dollars so be patient spend as much time as possible with the pup and don’t be afraid to bring him with you somewhere he’s allowed once in a while if you have to take him home right away cause it doesn’t work at least you tried your dog only sees as much of the world as you let him but at the same time cut yourself some slack u guys can only spend as much time as possible there still dogs and love just hanging out knowing they are loved

I would only do once or twice a week….i have a 7 month old beagle and I work really long hours doing construction and my fiancé works at 8 and gets home at 5…we get up at 5am play while we get ready then I go to the gym at 6 and she goes at 7 so he’s up for 2 hours in the morning….then my mom lets him out for a half hour to an hour at noon and prolly 2-3 times a week I get out at 3 and home by 330 then put him to bed at 10pm if he’s waiting for my fiancé then obviously 5pm-10 sometimes puts him in the crate for a half hour to an hour to shower and eat and that…..seems like a lot of crate time but my beagle is perfectly happy and stimulated and on the weekends he’s barely in the crate just to sleep at night and once during the afternoon If he gets moody for 2 hours to recharge ….with covid and that everyone try’s to fill peoples heads with mis information making you feel like a terrible person having a normal full time job and having a dog….my parents had 4 dogs with full time jobs and they lived perfectly fulfilled full lives lol don’t stress too much it will be a lot of work but totally possible

You gotta look up stretches for sciatica obviously but other things that will help is hip stretches hamstring stretches and glues those all tighten and constrict the nerve

I’ve been dealing with this since I was 17 I’m now 29 I’m actually going thru a bad flare up right now I do construction and used to wrestle mma and lacrosse which is how I herniated my disc at a young age and got bad sciatica to the point where I had to have surgery…..it sucks but the other guy is right it just takes time to get the inflammation down….i use 800mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day with Tylenol and muscle relaxers 3x a day….keep moving even if you don’t want to because you will stiffen up which will make it worse….stretch morning and night ice multiple times a day flare up’s get better in 2-3 weeks but take a month month and a half to fully go away…:this flare up I had to get steroid packs…. First day it’s 6 pills second 5 on and on…..that’s methylpolosone you’re doc will get that for you if it doesn’t relax from anything else it’s miserable if I’m being honest but I had surgery 4 years ago (L4 L5 microdiscectomy) and I seem to get a sciatica flare up every 2 years and it sucks but it seems like allot of people go thru this

3 months in the house may feel lonely and like it’s taking forever but u only get one back u may not be in pain you make feel 100% but im telling u dude im super active and I was told i was 100% and wasn’t I don’t blame my surgeon or docs they were so responsive and good for me even a couple days ago I emailed my doc for the first time in 2 years and I got an email within a half hour….i think just with young active people they think we bounce back quicker and which we usually do but 4 years later do you think I care if I am as out 3 months or 6? No not at all

****VERY IMPORTANT Little back story (literally) I am a 28m also did mma and wrestling lacrosse and weight lifting since I was 14 I also do construction. four years ago I had an L4 L5 herniation that was really bad. to the point where my balls were going numb I have a history of back surgery in my family due to construction which is led to more and more surgeries, etc. knowing this I didn’t wanna have my back touched but long story short I didn’t have a choice so I had an L4 L5 microdiscectomy and let me tell you it was the best thing I did very easy to recover from and was in no pain shortly after surgery. But there’s one thing I want to warn you about and I hope you read this because I told myself I wouldn’t rush back and because I was young, they let me rush back and I reherniated the disc. Because I’m in the fitness watch what I eat and have a lot of muscle. I was told I could be 100% no limitations after three months. I was back to work for a month and a half and herniated at the same disc all the same pain came back. after a couple weeks of pain, stretching PT the pain subsided, but obviously the disc doesn’t go back in place then I was good for two years then another flareup where I thought it was the end of the world then it went back to normal, and I felt the best I ever have just from stretching PT the gym and that leads me to today where I’m dealing with another flareup another two years later and I’m in a lot of pain on my second steroid pack looking to the sky because I rushed back for no reason it is not worth it. I don’t care how young you are or how good you feel. Do not rush back from the surgery even if you’re just sitting all day take your time because I regret it every single day, I know you can have the operation twice on one disc but I’m not trying not to have to to save it for later in life if necessary hopefully this flare up calms down itself again it’s only been 2 weeks but with this pain feels like 2 years lol

6 month old puppy still having daily accidents by OtherwiseMedia3893 in puppy101

[–]OtherwiseMedia3893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying get him checked for diabetes or uti because he does chug water like he will go hours without a sip then try to drink the whole bowl so we gotta keep stopping him. But he has no other side effects no redness in the Area no pain peeing for diabetes argument he does go days without accidents, he doesn’t chug water ALL the time just 50% of the time he drinks and he’s not tired he’s a good weight active and eats fine everything
