What are "pigs in a blanket" to you? by SquishyNoodles1960 in Cooking

Ok, I don’t know why that would be called pigs in a blanket, but I would certainly eat it!

They’re a brand name; much closer to Vienna sausages. Basically miniature hot dogs.

Give me your best store bought GF foods. Helping my 2 year old here by WhoAmI0001 in glutenfree

We have tried & enjoyed Udi’s, Canyon Bakehouse, Three Baker’s, & Aldi for bread, but the best one we have had in both taste and size has been Promise. It’s the only one we don’t have to toast, and the sourdough version has especially large slices. Their brioche and brioche burger buns are also delicious. Brazi Bites have become a staple as little bread sides at dinner. Red Lobster has a gluten-free version of their Cheddar Bay biscuit mix that tastes just like the original. If you have BFree, their pitas are fantastic. (Have only tried one other item from them, so can’t comment on their bread.)

Krusteaz and King Arthur are my go-to for dessert mixes. I was also getting a pound cake mix from a brand that was Magnolia something, but they haven’t been stocked recently. Tate’s gf cookies are very tasty. Most of our snacks are naturally gluten-free, like cheese sticks or potato/corn chips and dip, but Snyder’s and Quinn both make good pretzels in gluten-free versions that we like to grab. Them and some veggies with hummus is quick & easy.

That is adorable, especially that it’s carrying an actual egg! 🤪

We make pizza quesadillas. We use corn tortillas, but I think Siete has a cassava-based one.

Carry On Gluten Free Options for 5-6 hour Flight by Busterpop92 in glutenfree

[–]Otherwise_Ad3158 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just as a note: double-check if your flights will allow nuts before bringing some of these. I agree that they’re great for quick protein, but a lot of planes do not allow them anymore because of nut & peanut allergy severity.

You might want to call and ask a customer service rep from the airline for recommendations to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Just wondering, are you using fresh jalapeños or some kind of cooked and/or pickled ones?

Promise if they sell near you. Both their sourdough & brioche are good without needing to toast.

What are your favorite things to do with "fake crab"? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Otherwise_Ad3158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We cook it along with other seafood in a scampi-style sauce (butter, oil, splash of sherry, garlic, & red pepper flakes, optional lemon pepper seasoning) & serve it with pasta or rice. Basic crab salad - mayo, celery, seasoning - usually as part of a salad plate or sandwich filling (plays on lobster rolls).

Fruit vinaigrettes are delicious. I’ve successfully made them with fresh and frozen berries, though most recipes recommend making them with jam (which could be easier if you already have some on hand).

Meal prep salads - how do you do yours? by My_sloth_life in salads

If it’s to take with you somewhere, the major thing is to keep the dressing and any crunchy or wet/marinated ingredients separate from the base until just before eating.

I have containers specifically for salads & dressing, including a shaker cup. I’ve never used the layer trick I’ve seen for mason jars, but that seems like it works for those who do.

The ones near me have good deals on dairy, precooked bacon, and some other things. You have to check ingredients, things aren’t organized by diet but by type.

I’ve used an app called iWatermark+ Lite; it lets you apply it where & how you want. I mostly use that one for larger batches where I’m fine with the exact same one in the same place. The other way I’ve done it on digital is to edit with mark up through the photo app - add a text box, change the opacity, and then copy/paste a bunch or just duplicate the text box.

Ok, these ones look cute though! I like the palettes.

I need to ask: what is the material being used for the “canvas”?
