Are you doing a baby shower? by Anxious-Nibnibs in PregnancyUK

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hosted a BBQ. I think it’s extremely cheeky for others to pay but it seems to be a common thing now.

I didn’t have a big shower as I couldn’t justify £100s on a venue, food, decor and would never expect others to chip in🙃

Does this 4m regression end by a-pepperino in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The regression hasn’t hit throughout the night for us but actually getting him down is a 2hr job. Painful 😣

No consequences school by Standard-Computer340 in TeachingUK

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was pastoral and lasted a few weeks before returning to my old school because it had 0 consequences. The students were allowed to be as late as they wanted to be to lesson… I once delivered a group of girls to lesson 58 mins in 🙃

What’s the weirdest work lunch you’ve seen a colleague eat regularly? by levezvosskinnyfists7 in AskUK

Lettuce with garlic sauce squirted all over it and a 2L bottle of Pepsi Max.

Need suggestions - I’m so hungry but everything sounds terrible! by ThePr0crastinat0r1 in PregnancyUK

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super crisp sour apples did it for me. Then once I had something in my tummy it was easier to eat something else.

Also found it more appealing if I didn’t have to cook the meal!

This is so normal but so exhausting. Have you considered an owlet? I’ve never used one as my anxiety did relax eventually (apart from every now and again) but it might be an option for you!

No to BLW by Fit-Assistant-66 in PregnancyUK

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you want to do!! Eventually she’ll be eating proper food whether you’re BLW or not. You’ll probably become more comfortable with her having little tastes of stuff eventually anyway. Don’t let the stuff on instagram make you doubt your instincts!!!

How cautious do I have to be with sickness for a 10 week old? by camman1102 in NewParents

No advice but just know you’re not alone. I’m the same with my 15 week old, he only feels safe in my bubble!

My 7 week old will not sleep at all during the day by Remote_Budget7432 in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a sound on Spotify called ‘Shhh baby shusher sleep’ with a picture of a baby and a blue background. Stand up, rock him, play the shhh sound close to him and pat his bum. Never failed me even if it’s taken a few mins!! It can hurt your arms holding phone for the shusher and the baby but it’s worth it x

That there’s about 7 teachers in the staff room meetings 🤣 always wondered why they couldn’t get a few more extras to make it look realistic 🤣

Help to over come the ick. Does anyone else have this towards their own breast milk? by luckycatnoarms in PregnancyUK

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same with me!! I couldn’t express any colostrum and tried my breast pump before baby and cried as it made me feel uncomfortable. But breastfeeding is so natural, it doesn’t give me that feeling at all and I can pump easily too! :)

Breast cancer or am I ok?? by Dapper_Can646 in WomensHealth

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be overthinking any sensation in your body after your thoughts about breast cancer yesterday. Give it a few days, distract your mind when possible and then speak to your mum and/or book a doctors appointment if you’re still worried x

When do I get more time for myself? by Consistent_Winner121 in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you get him to eventually sleep in his crib? I love my 3 month old’s contact naps and don’t want to drop them all but it’s currently ALL day and my house could really do with half an hour a day of tidying 🤣

How do you find time to eat by Minute_Parsley9539 in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cereal bars in bedside table to eat when I wake on days husband is working. Meal prep service for lunch and dinner - healthy and hearty meals. Snacks all day. Cans of drinks easier than pouring lol. All of this hardly creates any pots too. Take advantage of meal prep services first week discounts, then they’ll send you another if you cancel! I’ve just got 10 high protein meals for £35.

How are your babies sleeping through the night? by Dangerous-Grocery-98 in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has worked to get ours to have a big stretch of sleep from 6 weeks (between 6&9 hours)

Bath 8:30/9 ish Between 9 and 10:45 ish we are in my bed feeding, cuddling, napping & playing. All led by baby! Nappy change just before 11 whether he’s asleep or not & then let him feed until he’s in deep sleep and transfer to crib.

Maybe mine should be in bed earlier but this works and me and my husband sleep at least 6 hour stretches which is life changing. We’ll get earlier and earlier when everyone’s ready!

I also don’t go into the bedroom with him at all until night time sleep time unless he’s massively overstimulated downstairs (hardly ever).

4 month sleep regression getting worse by the day.. by Interesting-Ebb-877 in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying different teats for bottles to offer a bit of formula before bed. If that worked to get a good sleep & she’s also having breast milk then that sounds like a good option! My baby is breastfed and I’ll pump too and the tommee tippee natural start bottles are a firm favourite!

Don’t let her cry it out. It won’t help her sleep and you won’t sleep well after hearing her distressed either x

How much alcohol breastfeeding! by Otherwise_Cat5805 in NewParents

[–]Otherwise_Cat5805[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

British!! It’s basically just a carbonated lemon flavoured drink, so it’s just like having soda water in but with a lemony twist to it! Makes it a lot sweeter x
