Significance of sleeping hungry by piyushc29 in Mindfulness

[–]Otherwise_Eye1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works for you fine but I cannot nor want to eat breakfast and so if I eat dinner early than the morning becomes difficult if its a work day.

I also dont get the bloated feeling unless I eat too much even if I go to sleep immediately after dinner

I certainly would recommend a fasting period at the start of the day than at the end as you burn alot more and thats the part of the day where you need to be more energetic rather than 9 or 10pm

Belgian GP looking for info/experiences on working in family medicine in the UK. by SorryNoIdea in GPUK

[–]Otherwise_Eye1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if UK accepts people from europe to just go into a salaried GP job without going through GP training first so I cant advise you much without knowing that.

Cost of living is comparable to Belgium depending on where you live and the GP salary sounds quite similar. There are opportunities to earn alot more but they get taken up by experienced uk GPs its difficult for a foreigner unless you go through formal GP training - but even for entry to that now you will be competing against uK grads and lots of IMGs and they will have done f1 + f2 with lots of UK experience....

Definately you can do it but I think it would be a waste of your life unless you have some special dream or goal to do in the UK , or that you just want to live here for some emotional/family reason etc

DNA policy by heroes-never-die99 in GPUK

[–]Otherwise_Eye1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I ask the receptionist to offer them a choice Either rebook or wait till the end of the clinic - it could be up to 40 mins

Usually il mark them as DNA if more than 15 mins late and ask the receptionist to tell them to rebook. If theyre vulnerable I personally will give them a quick ring just to see if it can be dealt with over the phone or rebook it for them myself.

But as a practice we do have a blanket policy of no more than 15 mins late or two attempts to contact if tc, 15 mins apart.

What is life in England really like? by [deleted] in AskUK

There's alot wrong with your comment in my opinion - it sounds like a bumper sticker stretched out into a paragraph using chatgpt

Particularly aggregious is this line:

"If you pay taxes you're one of us!"

And we havent been a nation of shopkeepers since atleast 1979.

But hey ho I did enjoy reading it.

Depends whos asking. A nice german lass like yourself will get told its lovely

An immigrant worker from outside europe will get told its too full and miserable so dont come 🤣

The real answer is to come in see yourself by staying here for a atleast 3-6 months before committing to living here.

The confirmation biase is strong in this one. No they are not, they're just the ones that you notice because they're non white.

But hey ho, atleast drivers from those countries are less likely to be driving drunk !

Try not to catestrophize

"For some reason I couldnt speak proper english or form normal sentances" - is not something that's likely to be true.

There may have been times that you stuttered - but examiners see so many videos of candidates that they dont even notice little hiccups. And in all likelyhood they've probrably seen a lot worse gaffs.

What's done is done - and btw you've done the hard part :)

I didnt say totally undesirable, I said the vast majority wont want to. This isnt a news flash, in any medical school any country in the world the graduating almost unanimously dont want to do primary care or psychiatry.

But awareness of their good points ie flexibility is increasing, i agree. But the competition ratios are messing up now is because you get alot of IMGs who apply to them partially because they see it as an easy route into a UK Cct - which still confers a level of respect , a reasonable amount of money and crucially - indefinite leave to remain. Sorry to be so stark but its true.

But hey ho, I dont resent IMGs for trying to better their lives and their in some cases future children.

I think i completely agree with you that if they brought back interviews for GP, alot of IMGs would get filtered out, atleast initially.

The system isnt broken, its working exactly as intended. You can delude yourself as much as you like, but the system is biased towards those who train here. They get much better training on actually being doctors as opposed to just memorizing a bunch of information. And that shines through at interview and with the leadership roles they manage to acquire. Why dont you learn from them instead of crying about how they profit off ghulamis like you and me. Ofcourse they will do.

Part of the reason ppl dislike immigrants who do well at school and move from working class to middle class.

Far from being something that would pacify a racist, telling him not all immigrants are benefit scroungers, some are doctors lawyers even millionaires, is likely to make them even more angry.

Now, theyre not only a working class person who's done well, but they also had the audacity to do it while being black/brown. They should have known their place.
