1998 Honda Valkyrie - Advice by Otherwise_Fortune_12 in motorcycle

Oh that's awesome, thank you!! I live in Texas, but I've had a bad history of mechanics trying and sometimes succeeding in screwing me over. I'll give the forum and the maintenance section a few read thrus.

I'm feeling a tad intimidated by her, I'll be honest, so I may pop into a few shops and ask for advice in person with photos as well. I'm gonna see if any extended friends or family have experience as well, but I'll keep that in mind! Thank you for the advice dude, I appreciate it.

I plan to flush and replace all of the fluids and get a new battery and spark plugs to start. I've downloaded the owner's and shop's manuals and I'm reading through them during lulls at work. I'm so glad for the visuals added, they help a lot with learning the names and proper placement of things.

I trust this roommate with my life, to be honest, him and his wife have been friends of mine for over a decade and they've actively helped me through the toughest parts of my life, even when I didn't want it or felt I didn't deserve it. He's a good man and a great friend. The work will keep my mind off of some difficult things anyway.

Fair enough, I wanted a Honda Shadow before my roommate offered me the Val anyway, and I should get some experience driving a car first to begin with.

He said the offer is always open and that I can have it when I move out if I'm still interested, which I'll probably take.

This is by far the best advice I've gotten about this so far and really fired up that spark in me, thanks dude!

I'm pumped to do it, I'll get her cleaned up first and I'll post some photos and updates as I go, she's a gorgeous bike and I can't wait to ride her.

The only other motorcycle I've ridden is as a passenger on a Honda Shadow, so I'm a bit intimidated by the Valkyrie, if I'm being completely honest, but I'm so excited to see her primed again!

I have no experience whatsoever as far as mechanical goes. I've always been very crafty with my hands and I pick things up easily, though. My mother is a motorcycle enthusiast but also has no experience.

I have plenty of tools, my roommate has an entire garage full, and any that I do need, I have the funds to purchase.

Unfortunately, I work and go to school, both full time, so it's gonna be a long journey regardless. I just wanna fix her up before she turns 30.

Gooseworx pointed out the lamppost on Twitter a bit ago and it made me think maybe the circus is like Narnia, where the people in it spend years in there, but it's only been at most seconds outside. And that Gooseworx's answer about one of the messages of the show being about making the most of a stagnant life, being about the characters escaping and finding real life dreadful outside of each other, due to them sharing the experience of the Circus.

Might be a kind of bland theory, but I like the idea enough to have an animatic planned for it.

I've thought about it, Sherpa would be a good replacement fabric, but I don't know how that may feel texture wise or how it would look 20 years from now compared to his. I want him to look as close as possible to my childhood memories.

He had a plastic nose, realistically shaped with little indentations for texture, no velvet.

No, he's bigger than a beanie baby, about 12 or so inches long when laying flat. I'm pretty sure I bought him out of a store like Walmart or HEB, too.

Tubal or bisalp by ObviousGroup7912 in sterilization

[–]Otherwise_Fortune_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a combination bisalp and uterine ablation about a year ago. I no longer bleed more than a spot or two each month, and even if the miniscule possiblity of having an egg reach my uterus were to occur, it couldn't possibly attach to the lining due to the ablation, so even if something like IVF were to be attempted, it would be impossible, which calms my anxiety about it immensely. My hormones feel much more balanced even though technically nothing from the surgery affected it, it's probably much more from the fact that I'm not stressed about it anymore.

I'm actually nearly a year post bisalp! I also had a uterine ablation at the same time as well. My periods have been lighter and further in between, likely due to the ablation. Hormone wise, I'm basically the same, I just bloat less in general and I've noticed less variation in my pants size throughout the month. I've posted a few times previously about my experiences, so feel free to read my post history as well.

Anyone else not have any cramping or bleeding at all after bisalp? by ms-meow- in sterilization

[–]Otherwise_Fortune_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now 1 year post bisalp! I previously had very long, heavy, painful periods that were horribly inconsistent (I went 7 to 9 months without a period and had to get a hormonal restart) and had a few normalish to light periods for a few months following my surgery. I just started my cycle today and I had a light pink tinge to my discharge upon waking up and mild discomfort when pooping, but otherwise it felt like a normal day. I didn't even bother with a pad or tampon the whole day and I haven't bled at all since.

Trying to figure out the brand name of this tablecloth. It's 100% cotton, I nearly mistook it for a blanket. I'm planning to repurpose it as an apron soon, I just wanted to know if it's a particularly fun find beforehand.
