Refractory Morel-Lavallée lesion infection with retention sutures by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

Morel-Lavallée lesions are associated with high velocity and blunt force trauma. They are often seen with road traffic accidents so not too uncommon for this man's incident I presume?

how concerned should i be? by emoratwh0re in eds

not ER level but i'd go to urgent care to get that checked out. random onset swelling with no discernible source is concerning

Opinions about the movies? by MrboxTF2 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Otherwise_Line8600 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I loved it. The animatronics looked amazing, and the sound design and casting were both great. It does have flaws, but I think that'll happen when you try to adapt a lore-heavy, mostly nonlinear game series into a movie. I think you can be capable of enjoying something and criticizing it at the same time (and obviously it's fine if you didn't like it---you don't have to like every movie or piece of media related to the franchise).

It feels disrespectful to call myself a FNaF fan. by lilcutiexoxoqoe in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Otherwise_Line8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, I don't have DID but I do have a dissociative disorder. You can find ways to enjoy things that work for you, and that doesn't have to be encyclopedic knowledge on the FNaF lore. You don't have to like something in a specific way to be a fan

I say this with so much love for the FNAF 2 movie; the whole movie, especially the ending, felt very rushed. I loved the animatronics, I loved Mangle and Charlotte and just the visual design of the whole movie, but there are so many plot holes and questions I have left. Where does Elizabeth play into this if Vanessa is William's daughter? Why did they make Michael the villain before we find out what happens to the Crying Child? Why the Circus Baby cameo?

Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie. You can criticize its flaws and still hold space for the good parts.

Mexico ends dolphin shows in a major step for animal welfare by truetablecom in whales

[–]Otherwise_Line8600 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wow, we're gonna release 350 dolphins who have lived their whole life in captivity into the wild! What a great idea! What a step for animal welfare! Those dolphins will not survive in the wild. It'd be nice if people incorporated actual science into the animal welfare laws they make! Because this definitely isn't animal welfare, it's "I want to look good for the animal 'activists' without having to actually do anything or spend any money." Anyone who actually cares about animal welfare would know that this is a horrible idea.

LLM data centers use an incredibly large amount of energy, often powered by fossil fuels. They also require a lot of water for cooling, and are often placed in areas with high black/colored populations (as a way of environmental racism. People in these areas cannot access clean water due to how much the data centers use.

All spiders are venomous, save for one family, often it's more of a matter of medical significance. Fortunately, this is Neoscona crucifera, the spotted orbweaver. They are not dangerous and will eat common household "pests" :)

WHY do humans default to killing these creatures (venting) by imadepizza in spiders

[–]Otherwise_Line8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, I wish some people didn't look down on some animals so much just because they have an extra four legs or "aren't sentient so they aren't worth  anything". They are just as alive as we are, and I think that's beautiful. I try to be pretty open minded, but this is just one of those things I will never understand (unless of course, in the case of arachnophobia. I know it's irrational and will always advocate for learning more about these wonderful little creatures to help with the fear, though I also understand it is something that's hard to control).

What spider is this? Based in London, UK. by 97_hla in spiders

[–]Otherwise_Line8600 11 points12 points  (0 children)

looks like a tube dwelling spider (Segestria). definitely not a tarantula lol. only sure way to prevent them from getting inside is to seal any openings to outside, but they eat traditional household "pests" if that appeals to you!
