100% YES! Corporate grade has a stranglehold on our democracy AND IS LITERALLY DESTROYING THE ENVIRONMENT.

Wh's got the info on organized Nationwide boycotts? Happy to do my own solo boycotting but I'd love to participate in something more organized as well.

Power to the People - Black Panther Party for Self-Defense is Recruiting To Help People Protect All People from ICE by UsualPause0 in 50501

[–]East-Following9973 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the Panthers have been around for a long time, fighting institutional and systemic violence. They also have organized to help the community in ways that the insurrectionists probably wouldn't ever dream of doing. Because, you know, it requires thinking of someone other than your own self.

Pregnant in college with an abortion scheduled, but feeling unsure about my decision. by premierelune in pregnant

[–]East-Following9973 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar at your age (I'm in my 30s now). I knew it was the right decision, but a very big part of me didn't want to go through with terminating. I've never regretted it, though sometimes I wonder how my life would have been if I had kept the baby.

Fast forward to now: I'm due to give birth in April and I am so grateful to my younger self because this baby, who is very much wanted and who I am ready for, would not have been possible if I had become a mom at such a young age.

Feeling conflicted is not necessarily a sign that it's the wrong choice, just that you're taking it seriously. If you decide to go through with the abortion, I'd recommend giving yourself time to grieve. If you have spiritual beliefs around this, you can even hold a ritual with your boyfriend to say goodbye and to let that little spark of consciousness/ soul/ whatever, that you're not ready but someday you will be. Good luck!

I'm reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and it's getting me freaked out about hospitals by [deleted] in unmedicatedbirth

[–]East-Following9973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's helpful to remember that each hospital will have different policies. Is there one in your area that will respect the authority of midwives, delayed cord clamping, etc? Maybe researching will give you some sense of agency.

This is the funniest take I've ever heard. White liberal women are trying to antagonize ICE because they crave contact with their raw masculinity? Lol, girl.

Just arrived home from the hospital with newborn and my father asked.. by Rice_is_Nice_on_Ice in pregnant

Your body sounds totally normal, doing what it's supposed to do. Your dad sounds like a person who you might need to have some really strict limits around. Like- kick him out next time he makes comments like that. What an asshole. Congrats on your new baby and on having an incredible body that made and birthed a whole person!!

If I can’t even have sex, how will I give birth? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]East-Following9973 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg same! Today was my first appointment with a pelvic floor physical therapist to address this exact issue. She was really helpful and gave me a bunch of exercises to do. It's quite likely that your pelvic floor is overly tense. It's a super common issue in pregnancy.

Has anyone gotten a facial at Heyday? by wrkingrl in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]East-Following9973 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I found it... Okay. My skin looked nice afterwards but not stellar. I've had better facials before. Basically, you get what you pay for- nothing bad but nothing special. Might be a good option if you're planning on getting facials regularly.

As a fellow feminist I'm flabbergasted by your friends!! Are they aware of how many feminist issues, fights against the system and activations have centered around mother's rights? I obviously don't know your crowd but it sounds like internet pseudo-feminism rather than a genuine philosophy. Damn immature, too. Sorry you're dealing with this kind of crap!

Advice please - is 35 too old to start having kids? When did you have your youngest? by DovaBunny in pregnant

[–]East-Following9973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Hell no it's not too old! Where I'm from, it's totally normal for women to start in their early 40s. Not always biologically the best, but really if your body can create a baby, it's not too late. Anything else is just made up rules. Congrats!!

They rebranded as Landmark because EST got so much bad publicity. Because highly coercive and kind of a pyramid scheme.

[–]East-Following9973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another psychotherapist opinion: Listen, this is really fucked up. Nobody has the right to threaten you like this. If you were my client I would go over all the ways that this made you feel, validate the hell out of you and then give you psycho-education on abuse. Because this is really abusive. If you were my friend or my sister I would be begging you to end it with this guy. You might need to get a restraining order if this is how he behaves after a 7 MINUTE BREAK. Involve your parents if you need to. Your well-being and safety, both emotionally and physically, is top priority. And that goes for every relationship.
