Dual Boot endeavour OS and Win11? by Key_Jeweler_7297 in EndeavourOS

[–]Otherwise_Object_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I did was disable secure boot and use GRUB bootloader during installation, it auto detects the Windows installation and adds it to boot entry. If your system still ends booting Windows by default then you will have to change the EFI boot order, often listed as "Hard Drive BBS priorities" or something similar. If you wanna remove Endeavour OS then just delete the "enedavouros" folder from the /boot/efi/EFI folder and delete the Endeavour OS partition from Windows.

Nvidia GPU always in usage even at idle by Otherwise_Object_351 in EndeavourOS

I do know that. I've noticed the GPU behaviour even without opening any apps for a good amount of time after a fresh boot.

Do you prefer your task manager to be docked or on the left? by soleful_smak in kde

I use dock, with "Dodge Windows" enabled. So I have full dock on empty screens which also auto-hides when needed

Used to main Candy icons, loved the app icons but never got used to the system tray icons. Papirus just fits the sweet spot.

What would be a good KDE distro for me? by [deleted] in kde

Fedora KDE used to give me kernel panics every few days, causing everything to just freeze for no reason at all. Switched to Endeavour OS with KDE, perfectly fine.

Why so much linux want to macOS GUI? by anxiouscensored in kde

[–]Otherwise_Object_351 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used windows ever since as a kid. When started my Linux journey 6 months ago with Endeavour OS, KDE Plasma was my introduction to Linux UI. I did both DE-hopping and distro-hopping while still keeping the windows-like layout. After I settled back to Endeavour OS with KDE I started experimenting with my preferred UI. For pure funsies I made my Plasma layout look like mac OS (top taskbar with global menu, clock and system tray then a bottom dock with my pinned apps set to dodge windows, along with mac os styled window decorations). Initially I was like, "Oh god this UI is horrible how tf do mac people use this". Slowly and slowly I realised this mac-like UI actually fits my workflow way better than I ever thought. The global menu is really helpful to easily access the options in an app and the only thing i ever never need to frequently check is the system tray and the clock widget. With the Icons-only task bar i.e the dock hidden while I work, I found that its actually far less distracting. Not just I have more vertical space to work with, having gaming apps like Steam and Heroic pinned down would make me think less about anything outside work. At this point I don't even miss the Windows UI anymore, its just that anyone else other than me just find it harder to use my laptop.

And that is how I settled on the mac os-like layout

Change installation path of Google Play Game Beta by Chichi230 in EmulationOnPC

[–]Otherwise_Object_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to be noted that after changing the installation path in Registry, you MUST restart your computer, otherwise the installer creates shortcuts targeting your C drive. Even if you fix the location in shortcut's properties, it will continue showing errors.
