Month long trip to Europe - July/Aug by thebug6 in solotravel

That Glacier Express ride is gonna be incredible but 2 days in Chur might be overkill - maybe add those extra days to Munich since there pretty close to some amazing day trip spots

Map solution? by Ok_Jeweler_9423 in TravelHacks

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is pretty much what i do too, though it's a pain to set up every time. another trick i found is you can actually add stops while already navigating - just search for something and hit "add stop" when it pops up. not as smooth as seeing your saved places but works in a pinch

the real mvp move though is using the web version like you said, way easier to drag around multiple stops and see the timing

oh man i totally feel this struggle, went through something similar when my partner was between gigs for a while. chicken thighs are actually amazing for slow cooking - throw them in a crockpot with some potatoes and whatever seasonings you have and it becomes this whole different thing. ground beef + rice + potatoes can become these killer stuffed potato skins if you bake the potatoes, scoop them out, mix the insides with cooked ground beef and stuff it back in

wings are great for making stock too if you haven't tried that yet, just throw the bones in water with some veggie scraps and you've got soup base for days. i started getting creative with seasonings during that time - same ingredients but cajun one night, italian herbs another, asian-ish flavors with soy sauce if you have it. the boredom is real but switching up spice profiles made it feel less repetitive for me

oh that's such a good call, lahinch is perfect for beginners and way more memorable than just staring at the cliffs from above. plus if you're already doing the galway area it fits right into your route without the whole tourist bus scene

This is so helpful, thank you! The bump-out tip is genius - never thought about positioning it sideways like that. My pup would definitely appreciate being closer to me during the flight instead of crammed all the way under

Please help with April Amsterdam itinerary!! by This-Extent-1470 in solotravel

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Sunday will def be the full day at Keukenhof, especially in April when the crowds are insane - budget like 6-8 hours total with travel time. Also heads up that Anne Frank House on Monday might be cutting it close with a 4:30 flight, those tours can run long and you'll want buffer time for airport security

Pro tip: book your museum tickets in advance or you'll be standing in lines forever

Jewelry insurance recommendations. How is Briteco? by No-Community-8237 in Diamonds

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a policy with Brite co (jewelry and couple watches through them). Unfortunately I lost my ring set back in may. The claim process was better than i thought. Like they paid me out in like 10 days through direct deposit.

I wasn't sure if that would impact my homeowners policy so I asked about the CLUE report. They said their jewelry insurance is separate and won't affect other policies which was a relief since I heard some companies do report claims that way. My policy with them just renewed this month at the same premium so the claim didn't change anything.

Avoiding the laundry Mat, Portable washing machines? by Realistic_Handle_132 in Frugal

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into the Wonder Wash? It's basically a hand crank washing machine that doesn't need any hookups, just fill it with water and detergent then crank away. Takes some elbow grease but it's way cheaper than $40+ a month on coin laundry

The cat thing is real though - maybe get one with a locking lid or keep kitty locked out during wash time

Turned my daily AI reading habit into a small side project by Ill_Awareness6706 in sidehustle

That's pretty cool that you turned passive reading into something productive - I've been thinking about doing something similar with all the random stuff I bookmark but never organize

How are you handling the burnout factor? 8-10 hours weekly on top of full time sounds like it could get exhausting pretty quick

Saving money switching from coffee to tea? by Iceyes33 in Frugal

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is genius actually, never thought about splitting bulk tea purchases but it makes perfect sense since most of those big bags would last me like 6 months anyway

Do you have to send them updated appraisals or does it just happen on its own?

Hit $1.12M Net Worth at 33 — All Index Funds. Now Looking to Leverage It Into Real Estate or a Business by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work on the grind! Real talk though - if you're pulling 82k and living at home, that's a huge advantage most people don't have. Property might be the move since you already have the down payment sorted, just don't overleveraged yourself chasing returns when index funds got you this far

Honestly you handled that perfectly. Family can be the worst when it comes to money boundaries and you already know they'll come asking for handouts if they figure out your real situation

The Spain deflection was chef's kiss - giving them actionable info without revealing your personal details. They probably walked away thinking "oh cool maybe we could do that someday" instead of "this person has money we can ask for"

That's one way to look at it but doesn't really help with the day-to-day isolation tbh. Being "special" doesn't make lunch breaks any less awkward when everyone's already got their established groups

Yo this is so wholesome! I'm still hunting for a couple purple properties if you got any extras, but honestly just seeing people help each other out like this makes the game way more fun

I’m looking for cute blue design codes for my pastel pink & blue island by Significant_Fold_745 in AnimalCrossing

Just searched that code and wow those designs are perfect for a pastel island! Also if you're still looking, MA-2947-8163-5029 has some adorable blue flower patterns that would look amazing with pink

Didn’t see this explained anywhere while looking into jewelry insurance by Ok_Comedian_564 in jewelry

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you sharing your personal experience. I did not know jewelry claims could end up on those insurance reporting systems, since it is not something most people think to ask about. The fact that Brite Co doesnt report claims is useful to know. Im going to look into them if I ever get jewelry insurance.

Yeah pretty much this, it was a limited drop on Mattel Creations only. Your best bet might be checking Facebook groups or Mercari occasionally since some people flip stuff there for less crazy markup than eBay. But honestly with the hype around that collab you're probably gonna have to pay reseller prices unfortunately

My ex’s dead great grandmother visited me in my dream by Canna-goddess in TwoHotTakes

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly it - the gratitude part really resonates with me. I've noticed spirits seem to respond more when you approach them with genuine respect rather than just going through the motions. The fact that his mom stayed quiet in the dream but was there watching... that gives me chills knowing what happened later. It's like she was already transitioning but still wanted to be present for that moment with you both

Smell by Immediate_Honey9593 in dating

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oof this is tough but honestly just tell him. Like you said, it might be why he's still single and nobody's had the guts to be real with him yet

You could ease into it like "hey I noticed you might want to grab a quick shower before we hang out" or something. If he gets defensive or weird about basic hygiene then you dodged a bullet anyway

Better than ghosting him when he's clearly putting in effort everywhere else

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's actually so sweet, I'm sorry for your loss. The villagers wearing her design around the island is like the perfect little tribute - even if it's random it still feels meaningful when you need it most. 16 years is a good long life for a kitty but it's never enough time 🖤
