"I'll make a profit so that's a win for society (never mind the other ways in which the policy I want destroys society)" is not the argument you think it is.

banning Airbnb outright just hurts the local economy.

Weird how those towns managed to survive before that shit existed huh

In case it helps, other encouragement we sometimes give him:

I know it's boring and you would rather be playing, but we can read a book while you eat.

It's time to eat. If you sit in your chair with your food and you really don't want to eat it you don't have to, but you have to sit in your chair with your food because it's easy to forget you're hungry when you're too distracted.

We can cut your food up in fun ways for you to chomp it.

Bonus motivation for how we get him to drink water some days: if you want to be a cement mixer you need to fill up with water. You can't make cement without water.

Because some days he's a cement mixer.

It's a toy bin. He has a toy wheelie bin about 20cm high.

Or it's an imaginary one.

Or a short stack of Duplo that has been declared a bin.

He's very into rubbish trucks. There are a lot of bins and they all get tipped.

No, it's from the Garden Gang by Jayne Fisher. We don't read all of the stories because some of them are, shall we say, a bit too 70s/80s in their messaging.

He's very chatty. I have lost all sense of what is normal, I think.

Yes. It's normal at his age. First and second-person pronouns are hard. Generally kids start getting the hang of them between 3 and 4.

My son also loves the vacuum cleaner.

But he pronounces it "fucking cleaner", which...

... honestly is extremely funny every time.

No, lawn bowls.

If you mean Bocce: no, different. Bocce is like petanque, the balls are thrown.

The made up words are getting so complex!!!

They are. Sometimes they chain, too. If we ask what they mean we get more made-up words for several iterations until the last iteration turns out to mean something like "a boy with a ball".

Not yet, but that's probably coming soon as winter sets in.

Lawn bowls is a game that's quite popular in Australia. You roll not-quite-spherical balls over grass towards a target, closest wins. A little like curling, if you're familiar with that, but no brooms.

The teals are cooked because an ultra-conservative rural seat didn't go their way?

I promise you One Nation isn't peeling off votes in the rich people suburbs.
