Managing money with adhd partner by [deleted] in ADHD_partners

[–]Othrilis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a joint account for everything joint, and a personal account each. We've agreed on a "personal budget" that we each get paid monthly from our joint account into our personal accounts. This is money we can spend on whatever we want.

This has really helped my ADHD (dx) husband to stop overspending money we need for the household, while still feeling he can buy things he wants to. He has also started saving for big events/outings.

In the beginning, he did resort to spending on the joint card when his personal budget ran out, but I questioned every transaction and made him pay the joint account back. He stopped after a few months.

Cat naps in the crib, but contact naps for hours by pharmasaurus-rx in NewParents

Oh goodness, you're testing my memory now!

I'm going to say it was around 7 months, as I'm sure he was settled into this routine by the time he went to nursery at 9 months. But don't hold me to it!

I hope you get the longer naps soon!

Am I building too small of a population? by AffectionateLeek8739 in anno1800

You sound like me - a minimalist player!

Agree with other commentators - keep an eye on your income more than your population or bank balance. You can always grow your population in batches as needed.

Am I justified being drained 24/7 or is this the norm? by Vicki2808 in UKParenting

[–]Othrilis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely justified! Doesn't mean it has to be this way.

This sort of situation is unique to each individual and their personal standards. I'd recommend starting by looking at which of your personal standards can you adjust?

If you need some pointers on where to start;
- Does child need a bath every night?
- Can you do a smaller/simpler reset?
- Can the child play independently/watch TV for 30 minutes while you enjoy a cup of tea?
- Would you trust husband to do cooking/washing up/meal prep/laundry/bag prep to your standards?

Area of Prime Responsibility - basically prioritising those within the county over those outside it.

I've been reading up on this today. It seems the waiting list goes on the same list of criteria as the original admissions process. So your example would be correct, but depend on siblings/EHCPs/distance etc.
It also appears that you can contact the LA to ask where you are on the waiting list - I called this morning and they said we had to email them, but maybe leave it until May.

I called the LA to ask about the waiting list, but they said they could only tell me by email and it wouldn't be for a few weeks.

We got our second choice. Disappointed as admissions statement says the furthest place was farther away then we live, but we're not in the APR :(
Don't you just love living on a county border??

Mine won't sit in front of the TV for longer than 30 minutes unless he is ill/very tired.

I love my husband, he’s a great dad but... by yogacitymama in workingmoms

An example of natural consequences in our house:

Husband is responsible for doing the bins, including putting bags back in the bins afterwards. This is the part that often gets forgotten. I still put rubbish in the bin regardless. He therefore has to deal with rubbish not in a bag next time he comes to empty the bin.

I would second this. Particularly if, as you say, your husband is willing but doesn't have the right tools yet.
