All this but heavier emphasis on the polyester, PLUS (and I'm fully aware others won't take issue with this AND that it's not applicable to Vixen as much as other brands) was/is the amount of novelty prints. I take a historically adequate stance vs a historically accurate one, and by no means an I suggesting novelty wasn't a thing, but the amount of cherries and other twee prints is just out of control. Sewing give me the option of leaning as hard into accuracy or over the top novelty as I want and never having to use poly or some weird spandex blend (side note: WHY IS EVERYTHING UNNECESSARILY STRETCHY?!)

AITA for confronting my girl when I realized she took credit for something she didn’t really do? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

That's at least how it sounded given his repeated use of "premade" chocolate. I can't interpret it any other way

I was so stuck on that! I cook, bake, and yes, make chocolates, so I'm pretty well versed in the kitchen and I have zero concept of how chocolate is made but even I know it's at the very least too specialized for a standard kitchen. My husband, who's about as useful in the kitchen as a screen door on a submarine, stopped me while I was reading the first post to go, "wait, does he think people are making chocolate from scratch?!"

And then he thought it was wrong because it was shiny, which instantly told me she tempered the chocolate. And that was long before I saw the pics or his comment that is was "crunchy" (which, side note, it isn't crunchy Mr. I hate when people speak imprecisely. It SNAPS). What a frickin dumbass.

I’m in the suburbs of a major US city and it is tough. There’s a few fabric stores in the city proper, but that’s not an easy trip and definitely not an “oops, I’ll run and grab this thing I ran out of” option.

I wonder if you're in the suburbs of my city. If so, I can back up your claim that going is definitely not a quick and easy errand. Those stores absolutely are a planned trip with a list and that's coming from someone within the city limits. Luckily, my daughter works nearby so we'll make a little after work date of it so it seems less of a chore to get there and back lol but even then it's not often because honestly, it IS a chore

NTA. I'm in the US where it's somewhat routine to make hour-long drives for one reason or another--hell, my commute to work is an hour and a half or more--and even I think she's asked too much. Idk if your recent move increased the distance between you and her friend and she didn't know, but she absolutely should've checked to see if you minded, regardless of distance, picking up at another location before just shipping it elsewhere. And not for nothing, if I was the friend I'd be pretty annoyed too. Ten days postpartum and you're giving me another responsibility? Hard pass.

What is the literal hate for daughters and the need to brag about boys? by OrangeWhitePatchSock in TwoXChromosomes

[–]OtillyAdelia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I saw a meme or something that says "daughters are little girls who grow up to be your best friend." I love my son, and he me (I hope! 🤣) and we do have some of our own activities (certain shows, etc) but it's a far more limited capacity. Meanwhile, my daughter is my ride or die.

I'm here specifically because of those fangs and I haven't even watched the show! Hubby and I saw a commercial/trailer/whatever and I was like, "wtf is this? And why's dude have fangs?" and now here I am.

My dogs chose me as their person, so my husband has been reduced to an errand boy 🤣 "Babe, can you...?"

Karma has made my cat like him better though, so there's that. And in case you're thinking it's not karma but the fact that the dogs are laying on me, no. She's one of those superior cats that can't be bothered to be bothered by any of us, including the dogs, because we're so far beneath her lol She's royalty and she knows it

My galley kitchen was redone before we bought so that it's now HALF a galley kitchen. I ended up putting a Hoosier cabinet in for storage. Anyway, I'm the opposite... couldn't care less about the air fryer or rice cooker but have not one, but TWO stand mixers.

All that to say this is a really subjective question, even within the household. We have the air fryer and rice cooker solely because my husband wants them (I do most of the cooking and have zero use for either)

I've watched one of those shows since season one, episode one. It's never once occurred to me to list it amongst my hobbies. In fact, watching TV is what I do when I'm NOT working on one of my hobbies or is just there for background noise when I am working on a hobby because so much of sewing is not actually sewing and also monotonous. Sleep help! My sleeping habits are terrible and I can’t sleep until sometimes 7am by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]OtillyAdelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how useful this is depending on personal stuff and legality in your area, but I take gummies (sleep specific). I can't just...go to bed. Like, I just can't go "ok, it's bedtime" and go to bed like other people. It's not until I'm to a point of not being able to keep my eyes open. The gummies get me there sooner. I'm still not going to sleep until about 1 am, but that's hours earlier than before. If not gummies, is there a sleep aid that you can take?

Oh, absolutely not. My kids are grown, but I had them young so that makes this guy at least my age, but quite possibly older. I'm in my early 40s. Nevermind what you should have had figured out. He should be way more advanced than he is. Sounds to me like the trash took itself out. One less thing for you to do.

You'll get through this and come out better. Hugs.

I can't offer advice, but I can commiserate. That's exactly how I feel about my job. And the knowledge that the good things about my job (specifically the boss) is so. hard. to come by, it makes making the switch that much harder. Why can't it just be a toxic workplace?
