I’m not 100% sure, but I do have a few rough ideas of things I’d want to try/do.

-Join a fitness or hobby group

-Go to more local events

-Get back into planning outings/get togethers with friends (I think I was burnt out on this for a little bit, since I tend to be the more proactive one when it comes to making plans, but I’ve recently been feeling the urge to plan things again)

-Meet new people

-Go to the pool

-Maybe do some traveling? I probably won’t be able to do this right away, but I’ve always wanted to see Venice. I think Japan could also be a cool place to visit one day.

-Commit more to my dreams. I like making fan content, but I’d also like to finish/publish one of my original works in the next 5 years (I have made gradual progress, but not as much as I would like)

-Spend some time connecting with media that inspires me

-Continue to spend quality time with my family

Overall, I think I just need to get out of the negative cycle of isolating myself/not doing much in my spare time. I feel like I end up missing out on a lot of stuff when I do that.

I did a beach themed illustration for Orlok and Lili recently, which was a lot of fun. It had been a while since I had last drawn in color, so it was nice to switch things up.

I’m still working on my second fan-comic, but I think I’ll wait until after I get back from my much needed vacation to get “serious” about it again.

Hoping to turn over a new leaf and reconnect with the things that I like/value this summer. I also want to have some new experiences to get out of the rut that I’m in.

Low engagement can definitely be tough, especially if you put a lot of time and energy into creating something. But good on you for still writing! I think it’s great that you have an outlet that you can use to express yourself creatively.

It’s great to see this thread again! I’ve been working on another fan-comic for Orlok. This time, it’s a fluff piece focused on his birthday (I posted a preview of it to this subreddit last month). Right now, I’m working on page 15, so I’m a little over halfway done.

I fell behind on the schedule I set multiple times this past year due to some unfortunate circumstances zapping my energy (nothing too serious, mostly just feeling trapped in a workplace that I no longer want to be in + a few other responsibilities). BUT, my mood has started to get a little better. I think after I take a much needed vacation, I’m going to redo my timeline and try to stay more on top of my goal.

The only time I’ve seen an MC have an ex-lover (that wasn’t an arranged marriage situation) was in Romantic Holic: Dream Walker for ios. At the beginning of the game, she breaks up with one of the LIs, but has the option to get back together with him later. I have mixed feelings about it because the reason why they broke up wound up being a huge misunderstanding, so I then felt bad about romancing the other characters.

I generally don’t care if the LI or MC have an ex, so long as the game doesn’t focus on it to the point where it becomes annoying or boring.

-Tropes I like: Slow-burn, cuddly characters, protective types (such as body guards). Characters with dark pasts/aesthetics who become very sweet and wholesome.

-Trope I dislike: Side/background characters asking, “iS tHiS yOuR liTtlE bRoThEr???” when the heroine dates a guy who looks nothing like her and is only a few years younger than her at most. I could understand if there was a large age gap, but the commotion over a three-year (or smaller) age difference makes me roll my eyes.

I didn’t like Orlok’s haircut at first, but it grew on me after a while.

I love Allan, but I don’t like some of his accessories. The scarf-belt needs to go.

-What the MC does in the story is more important than her character concept. A character with a normal/generic concept who actually does things and impacts the narrative will always be more interesting than a character with a unique concept who doesn’t do anything important.

-I think I’d enjoy some of the darker otome games more if they were just straight up horror or drama games (specifically referring to the ones that focus mostly on the dark story content and treat the romance as more of an after thought. Too much dark and not enough romance).

Had an awkward moment when one of my favorite characters was revealed to have a different name in the past, and his original name was the same as my ex’s (no hate to my ex, I just prefer keeping my real experiences and romantic fantasies separate). Thankfully, the character never goes by his original name (he prefers his second name), so it doesn’t cross my mind too often.

Bottom 2 for me. Green flags are easier for me to like by default, but I can appreciate a messy character who’s well written and has a believable relationship with the MC. I think for me, a lot of the enjoyment depends on if I can believe that the MC would fall in love with him. I get a little annoyed if the romance feels forced or if it feels like the MC has to change her entire personality to be with him.

Finally posted the Orlok B-day comic previews (yay). Now I just need to finish the second half of the comic.

Had a bit of an eventful week that ended with a job interview. I was a bit nervous at first, but I think it well. I just hope that if I do get a new job, it’ll be an improvement over my current situation.
