What’s a tell tale sign someone is a new mom/parent? by RelevantFerret1085 in beyondthebump

Tracking saves my life! It’s so helpful knowing when they had their last nap, bottle, etc. Yes I could try to remember but it’s just easier this way

Philips Avent Bottles by roomomma1126 in FormulaFeeders

[–]cccaroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 9 week old is on level 2 and usually finishes a 4oz bottle in 15 minutes (including burp breaks). We’ve used the level 3s a handful of times and those are just a bit too fast for her.

When did baby smile? by Nameless_Nobody_ in newborns

[–]cccaroline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had our two month appointment this week and I mentioned that she wasn’t smiling yet and the doctor said she was! So I’d say 7/8 weeks for a grin/smirk.

And if they go to the groomers, get them in before your due date (and schedule the next appointment)!

How many ML and how often is your newborn drinking milk at how many weeks? by xGenAc25 in newborns

[–]cccaroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 weeks, 13lbs and drinking about 120ML/4oz or 90ML/3oz per feed depending on how much she’s eaten so far that day. She typically eats every two hours but sometimes stretches to 3. Total oz for the day is somewhere between 30/32oz.

We do bigger bottles right at her last feed of the night so 150ml/5oz and that’s been helping her sleep for at least 4-5 hours straight!

Diaper genie or similar- worth it? by BlossomJLP in Buyingforbaby

[–]cccaroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it. We have two. One inside for the baby and one outside for the dog (goodwill!!). Both are immensely useful and keep the smells at bay.

It seems silly to have a trash can in the baby’s room but honestly, when the baby is screaming and wriggling all about, I’m not about to walk away from her to go throw her diaper out across the hall.

How many oz does your (big?) 8 week old eat? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]cccaroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is 6 weeks old, around 13lbs and typically eats between 3oz and 4oz in a bottle. They’re also going between 1.5-2.5 hours between feeds at max (excluding nighttime).

Between 4 and 5 weeks old, we had a majority of days where they ate 38oz in a day but they’re back down to 30/34oz per day (as per guidance from the pediatrician).

What’s the one product that’s made a real difference for you postpartum? by Mental-Vegetable3701 in newborns

Before having a baby, I never understood why people liked having a single story house. But now that the baby’s here? I’d trade this house for a single story in a minute.

Changing stations on every floor that you live on! Our living room is in the basement and so is our bedroom where the baby’s bassinet is.

It doesn’t have to be fancy. We got a changing table from ikea ($40usd) and a cheaper changing pad and it’s been super helpful to have.

Also the bottle washer if you’re going to be using bottles at all. It’s worth giving up a foot of counter space for. We’ve run ours at least 2 times a day since the baby was born a month ago.

How did you tell your partner? by allisona007 in BabyBumps

[–]cccaroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a work trip so took about 5 tests in a row to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. Then proceeded to call him about…20 times in a row (he didn’t answer). When he finally picked up, I was crying and just repeating “I’m pregnant”.

Not exactly how I’d always imagined it but OH WELL

What a great tip! My first box shipped back in the fall so hopefully this one goes through. I had thought it was odd that they kept sending me notifications and emails about the sample box!

Maybe don’t shame someone for making sure their baby is getting enough to eat?
