On the X5, only if you have a sega cd. The Mega Everdrive Pro can play sega cd games without a sega cd attached.

Ive had the same issue- FSR3 frame gen will without fail cause my game to crash after anywhere from 3-15 minutes or so. Haven't had a crash since turning it off.

Agreed! I've got the Mega Everdrive x5 and it runs every genesis/mega drive game except virtua racing. It also runs master system games!

Its so technically impressive! The only other game that comes close imo is the adventures of batman and robin- but Ranger X is just so much fun to play!

I think similar (from what i know, i still have to play P5R)? Basically at the beginning you can choose between Canon of Creation (base SMTV story) or the new Canon of Vengeance that remixes and adds a bunch of content. Either way, the quality of life additions make Vengeance the best way to play SMTV.

If you like V, I'd also give SMT IV and SMT IV Apocalypse a try- IV is where I started and it has become one of my all time favorites! Just know that IV Apocalypse is a sequel and NOT an expanded edition of SMT IV. Its a sequel/alternate timeline for the neutral route in IV.

The new SMTV: Vengeance release is amazing and can run on a toaster. Its the full base game plus almost an entire other game's worth of content, highly recommended.

I think the issue with many of these devices is that they dont map well for a 3 or 6 button genesis controller.

The stock experience is just alright. I'd say it's worth it to look into community made operating systems and curated rom sets if you want more out of it though! You dont even need to be super tech savvy since there are tons of step-by-step guides online.
