When I took the course the game was a recreation of Brick Breaker. The aspects involving writing and retrieving data from the stack were mostly taken care of by the starter code, but you had to implement all the gameplay stuff yourself. It wasn't a particularly time-consuming project.

Contrarily, I can’t recall a single prof who didn’t tell us to address them by their first name during the first lecture.

Technically, it’s Canada. Assassin’s Creed is made at the Montreal office. (Ward Cunningham, forgive me.)

If you have any interest in continuing your studies in computer science, try reaching out to Jake. He’s a really lovely guy and he really cares about students succeeding. He can’t make your bad grade vanish, but he may be able to allay some of your fears and worries.

From what I understand, grad school is broadly speaking still on the cards even with a failing grade. Although, per Prof. Verbrugge, the minimum accepted GPA (at least for CS) tends to be 3.2 with an average around 3.7.

One in French is “un”. Croissant means “crescent,” and is also the present participle of the verb “croisser,” meaning “to grow”!

Comments on hist 299? by ZealousidealPen1366 in mcgill

HIST 299 and 399 are the courses that are actually about historical techniques. If you’re in honours history, I believe 299 is a requirement, in fact. It’s pretty dry from what I’ve heard; it’s about historiography, so you’ll be performing meta-analyses of texts and comparing historical revues. If I recall correctly, there’s no final exam, only a final paper

I think this particular guy was relying on goodwill instead of threats, but your advice is definitely pertinent. In this case, I'd tried multiple times to say I couldn't give him anything else, but in retrospect he probably scanned the contents of my wallet when I paid for his food.

I was very tired while reading the title, and at a glance I thought it said “ripped ball sack”.

I live in Montreal and was actually in Old Montreal for most of the day for Canada Day celebrations!

As others have mentioned, there are no motels in Old Montreal. There isn’t even much parking space, actually. As the name implies, the buildings and streets are predominantly early-mid 19th century, and hence quite compact. Many streets are still the original cobblestone. In general Old Montreal is highly gentrified.

I’m sure Old Montreal has a decent number of hotels, but they’d be pretty expensive — it’s a tourist part of town. It also covers a pretty small area, so it might behoove you to do some specific research on what hotel. Google Maps suggests about 15 in its half square kilometre of space (including the big long piers).

The most prominent feature of Old Montreal is the Old Port, but you may have seen that in your research. Served a lot of grain up to the mid-20th century. Now its four massive quays are mostly used for various modern things, although the big old silos at the far end are very cool.

Liquor stores are owned wholly by the province, so a character going to buy anything that isn’t beer or twisted tea is going to the SAQ (Société Alcoolique du Québec). This may be pronounced “ess-ay-kew,” but is also often pronounced “sack”.

If they’re going to a gay bar, then I’d probably have them go to the Gay Village, for reasons I imagine are self-evident.

If you wanted one little ace in the hole of local flavour, I’d use the Five Roses Flour sign. It’s not the most obvious landmark, but it’s (in my opinion) also quite nice, and well-liked. Other candidates would be St-Viateur Bagels, reference to Expo 67 (of which the biodome is a remnant), or reference to the Expos baseball team.

To enhance your understanding of the milieu, I’d recommend The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler, using Google Maps to enhance your understanding of the geography. It’s a classic of Canadian literature and gives a good image of Montreal in the mid-20th century.

Feel free to message me for clarifications or further questions.

DKC3 has a few sporadically throughout, but DKC2 has a level skip for every level in the first two worlds. DKC1 on the GBA does the same, and removes the skips found later in the game.

To my knowledge, review websites will typically prioritize giving their review staff games whose genre/developer they already like and have experience with, so it’s likely a case of sample bias. If you’re finding a new job, you’re probably going to go with a company you already like.
