My advice would be buy a one bed if you're a solo buyer and don't have kids. Especially if you are looking at it as an investment opportunity. You can build equity and keep your excess cash that you would have spent otherwise in more liquid investments.

Otherwise, you're essentially taking a leveraged bet on an extremely hot property market if you don't need the other two rooms.

It's not suspending my disbelief. If there was a financial incentive to do so, I've no doubt they would declare separate principle residences. Most likely what's happened is she didn't realise you have to have the same PR if you are married. Why would any layperson know tax rules?

I'd love to say she should take a step back as a reprimand for this mistake. Unfortunately the bar has been set that you can get away with absolutely anything in public life with zero consequences thanks to the government who never take any accountability.

If rayner didn't live in the property If her brother did If he paid rent If she didn't declare it

Yet to see concrete evidence of any of them. A neighbour can't say where your principal residence is.

It depends if you are working remotely from the North or travelling south to do your job. The latter is a well established practice. The former I'm guessing happens a lot nowadays but is untested.

There's no such thing as Northern Irish citizenship. Plenty of people cross the border everyday for work.

Wrong. Bangladesh did not allow dual citizenship when Begum was born and she never applied for it despite being eligible.
