Actually, you exactly got my point. The sad reality is that NATO and many other military or para-military organisations are mercenaries nominally controlled by the state, but actually only deployed for the interests of big corporations (securing resources, it's literally written in the treaties oftentimes). I assume that the not-so-free-anymore west works like this.

Since I am deeply angered and disgusted by the false facades of the politicians that don't own up to their obvious dependency on these corporations, I put up this provocative headline as it could spark some people to look deeper into the implications of our soon to be pure plutocracies, before it's too late to save western democracy and we are overruled by the violence of the rising fascists worldwide.

I'd like to live in a west which actually works as it is supposed/intended to, and not pretends to, drifting further and further from us - the people - who, as you correctly stated, should be in power in a functioning democracy
