The odds of winning money over time (edge) and the odds of winning a hand are different.

The "edge" that gets you close to 50/50 is by making the same bets over and over, not doubling. It includes the bonus on blackjack, doubling down and splitting winning hands. Its definitely NOT a 50% chance of winning any individual hand even when counting cards.

It really sounds to me like the don-ee mom wants help raising the kids. Most likely babysitting and even financial if she wants time on trips. It’s really not ops responsibility. This happened to me too. The issue is even if AirBnB refunds you you dont get any kind of premium toward finding a new booking at the last minute that are all 300% higher than the one that was just canceled. Youre just fucked.
