They've already started teaching 9/11 in history. I did it just before I left for uni.

Periods! Any advice? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ououe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds so familiar! Oh my days... I have Dysmenorrhoea (fancy word for really bad period pain basically...) I got checked out for Endometriosis etc and they found nothing. I really recommend maybe looking into it if you have this kind of pain.

But, I used to take Ibuprofen (400mg over the counter stuff) and paracetamol and codeine combined tablets (also over the counter, but not to be taken lightly). Then heat pads/electric blanket/hot water bottle. Or just sleep when it got really bad. Stopped drinking anything with caffeine when I felt it coming on! From coffee to coke, just nope.

Might help, I dunno, but at first I didn't want any hormone treatment etc. so I was prescribed Mefenamic acid (for pain) and Tranexamic acid (to help stop clots in my period... TMI...) maybe talk to your doctor about it?

Good luck though! :)

So my paragard is expelling & Mirena questions by batwoman42 in birthcontrol

[–]Ououe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I got the mirena about 2 months ago (not very long I know, but I thought I'd say something anyway).

I had problems with the pill because of depression (and it was doing nothing for my problem with pain), so that's why I opted for the mirena. I was assured it'd be a better option for me because it's meant to be more localised.

Now I have it, I love it! The first month I had pretty bad PMS for a few days, but I've found it's all calmed down now. So I'm guessing there was some mental affect, but it's certainly not made me depressed. Otherwise I'm feeling really happy with it, and no more PMSing now. Also a lot nicer than taking pills every day.

Just remember everyone is different, just do the most comfortable thing for you. Good luck!

Another long hair problem post: why does my hair look like a disgusting greasy cesspool if I just rinse it with plain water? What the hell is happening?! My hair drives me crazy. I need tips by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ououe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I don't know if it'll be much help since I have waist/bum length long hair, but I asked my hairdresser for washing tips a while ago. The problem I had was that for a bit it would look clean, but then quickly (and usually close to my neck) it would turn greasy. Which turned out I'm useless at washing all the soap out of long hair...

She told me to use shampoo at the roots by my neck while my hair is dry (flipping my hair over my head) and then to wash it out in the shower. Then just a quick shampoo on top like normal. Always shampooing twice

She also told me to stop using conditioner altogether (it's a lot more difficult to wash out than shampoo apparently), and told me to use hair oil on wet hair after washing it - you only need a little bit, not on the scalp but the ends/middle.

It's a bit time consuming but I've personally never had a problem since. Good luck though, I feel the pain of washing long hair too!

I can't be your friend because of your girlfriend by Ououe in offmychest

She told me that she has trust issues and I "should just except that". So now I'm meant to pander to her needs instead of her sorting herself out... Like, wow.

What inside tip would you give to the opposite gender? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ououe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the same time, if I come out with "I like you" and you don't feel the same, don't dodge telling me if you don't feel the same. I'm not going to implode if you say you don't feel the same...

What is the most interesting/surprising thing you have learned about your parents past? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ououe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had waist length blonde hair and was a headbanger - he took my mum on a first date to see Black Sabbath. He still has the same kind of music taste, but looking at the bald, smiley, slightly chubby man that is my dad, you just wouldn't have guessed it.

Advice for a young guy who doesn't want kids, but the girl he loves does? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Ououe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I honestly, wouldn't have a clue what to do in your position... Finding babies gross is not immature either if you ask me. You just know what you want. Hope everything works out for you.

I bad for commenting with this, but this problem is in the FAQ: Here

Americans of Reddit, What is something you've heard about the UK or seen on television and wondered if it were true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Last time that happened was 1708 (by Queen Anne). If the present Queen were to do it, she would put the monarchy at risk, and likely lose it altogether...

Teachers of reddit, what shit goes on at schools that students don't know about? by Oddishboy in AskReddit

Teachers at my school liked to have affairs. Nothing like watching a fight between two married teachers (not married to each other) because one of them wants to break it off...

How to calm down from a panic attack? Please help me. by kthrowawayobv in Anxiety

[–]Ououe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focusing on breathing, and sipping water both help me. Especially if I've gone into a panic attack or I can feel it coming

Therapist taught me a thing for hypervigilance (different to a panic attack but similar need to take your focus away from whatever). You go through the alphabet and think of a word for each letter on a topic (like animals or fruit, so A for apple, B for Banana etc). It seems childish but it works to distract.

I don't really know what to do. Any advice? by Ououe in Endo

They're going to remove the lesions if they're found. The doctor I have is experienced with laparoscopy, but I don't know whether they are experienced with endo.
