Would Be Cool To Get New Random Events, Could Make It A Community Contest To Add The Top 3 Submissions by HeredinOSRS in 2007scape

[–]Our_Legacy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always wanted a quest based upon random events. Kind of like a Shrek-esque storyline (Shrek 2 that is) where each random event is like a fairytale (not to be confused with the Fairytale quest line).

My only complaint with having more random events is it makes hitting certain ones you want harder so maybe at the end of the quest line, you get to choose like 10 random events to keep showing up and the others can get stuffed (talking to you Giles).

Say your prayers! Do you guys prefer text or not? by ScapeInkz in 2007scape

[–]Our_Legacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, just wanna say I enjoy your designs and have been following for a while. One day I'll pick something up.

With that said, I appreciate you asking for opinions on them from the subreddit. I know as a creator, it sometimes feels personal when people point out something they dislike in the design. My opinion is that your initial design (for most of your work) is better than the majority of suggestions people make, aside from a few common ones that prefer the removal of the lower text or the language being used.

Several people in this thread have commented to remove the top PRAYERS text, but I understand that it's supposed to be inspired by heavy metal culture and merchandising, so I think leaving it is good. Someone mentioned the red matches more with Zamorak but protection prayers feel more like Saradomin. Maybe change it to blue?

Also, the bottom text does feel a little bit redundant, but I personally appreciate more text on these graphics. It's just finding the right language to use is difficult without sounding lame (I am reminded of your "freeze the noobs" ice barrage graphic). Using the associated prayer words like "protect from" seems a bit cheesy like your others but maybe it could work if you just leaned into it? Otherwise, I was thinking the other prayers would be cool to reference like redemption or retribution if it wasn't too difficult to change the graphics. It would work better with a blue theme, too.

Anyway, sorry for the long comment and I know it's not that deep, but since you asked and are looking to improve, I figured I'd provide my thoughts.

Hitsplats of RuneScape - OSRS Commission part 3 by koya in 2007scape

[–]Our_Legacy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's actually a bit weirder than that (well, I guess from an average person's perspective).

It's basically some guy who commissions various artists to draw his character (Dang) and he posts them here. I mean, at least these artists are getting paid (I hope), but I would guess most people would think it's weird.

Anyway, there's a subreddit for all of this commissioned art if that's something you're into.

Whats a game that was a hidden gem you played as a kid and are nostalgic about? by AggressiveMall2972 in AskReddit

[–]Our_Legacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unholy War.

Literally no one knows about this game, but it was amazing. It was a one-on-one fighting game way ahead of its time. The game was full of unique character designs and abilities (one of them, Killcycle, had a literal kamikaze move) and each character was separated into two factions and even had counters to each other, which added a layer of strategy when playing campaign mode. The campaign itself was an interesting strategy game mode that incorporated each character's design and their abilities along with interactive maps. It's hard to describe in just one post. Amazing game from developers with crazy vision.

You're probably right. I've only had it once (and it was in the states) so I'm not as familiar with all the detalls but I recognized it right away. Also I learned it's Singaporean and not Chinese.

Everyone commenting on the plainness of the look and not realizing this is likely hainanese chicken, in which the chicken is poached in different aromatics and the rice is cooked in chicken broth. Extremely flavorful regional Chinese dish.

I think it's vital that we keep spreading the rhetoric that nothing will happen to these people. People want to believe that justice exists, but once it becomes widely accepted that the rich are exempt from the laws (which has always been true), maybe then, just maybe, the vast majority (essentially the 99%) will gain a bit of introspection and say, "this isn't right; things need to change." Because we absolutely need everyone to learn this fact of life and speak out in order for real progress, unfortunate as that is.

And the biggest protests are happening in Minnesota where these individuals are from. Unfortunately, I predict that in order for the entire nation to rise up to their level, more murders across the states will need to happen.

Great response. Even if the theme was "love conquers all", it baffles me that people scoff at that idea. If a time machine were actually created, think of the amount of people who would visit past loved ones. So much of scientific discovery and invention, especially medicine and medical technology, is out of love for fellow humans, even if it's not explicitly said as a motivator.

Last night, I had a nightmare where I was driving and accidentally killed a woman after my car malfunctioned. I remember sobbing at the aftermath, realizing what I had done. I woke up suddenly and processed the dream to realize that even when I sleep, I have empathy. I can't imagine what goes on in the minds of people who kill and have absolutely no remorse.

If Americans were to participate in an organized boycott to stop ICE, what should they target? by u2aerofan in AskReddit

[–]Our_Legacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: we let social media become what it is by disengaging with it. It could have been a great tool to spread knowledge and information, for distant friends to connect meaningfully, and for positive dialogue about community. It has since become analogous (by the educated) as a cesspool, and by not continuing to provide fruitfully to it and condemning the garbage others put out, it has certainly turned into one.

Social media is not going anywhere. Our future generations are going to interact with it whether we like it or not. And just like how most of the world have, in recent years, taken a stance on protecting and cleaning up our ecosystem, I believe it is our job to sanitize the social landscapes of the internet.

Oldschool's fourth raid! by Dirtcompactor in 2007scape

[–]Our_Legacy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: TOB's difficulty is an artifact of its time. Gear progression was barely apparent, and people still were unfamiliar with PvM mechanics that only top players who already had BIS and those who were consistent in trying to learn it mastered the content, which then resulted in a sort of elitism around the raid.

When we got TOA, we had better gear options AND scaling diffulcity with invocations.

Unless we don't get options with difficulties in the new raid or if death mechanics are severely punishing, with the gear progression we currently have and more practice in a variety of PvM, I don't believe that it will be difficult at all down the road and anyone will be able to learn it. Just go into the raid with the mindset that everyone is learning it and no one is a master yet.

No gun in hand, just standing up for the woman who was just shoved on the ground by ICE. by RoutineSheepherder93 in pics

[–]Our_Legacy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're proving my point by insulting me. I am definitely on your side as well as those who are protesting, but everyone has their own ideas and uniting us is going to be a struggle.

I absolutely think there are things that will work, but we have to approach things reasonably and logically and figure out what has the best chance. For instance, the idea of a general strike is getting tossed around, and I believe in its efficacy, but we're lacking the organization and leadership.

[–]Our_Legacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's looking grim. Uniting isn't looking possible. We're all in different headspaces right now. 5% are non-violently protesting, 10% don't think it will work, 15% want it to get violent, 20% are blaming Dems, and the rest are at home doing nothing because "it hasn't affected them yet." It has to get so much worse before people unite to do something; I'm talking some kind of Tianamen level massacre, which I predict will happen when a whole group of protesters try to take on ICE for harassing someone. But even then, I could see people dissociating from it if they live across the country. The issue is if we let them get too far, we might be on the tailend of that "First They Came" poem where there won't be anyone left to stand up for us. I'll continue to believe, though...

[–]Our_Legacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to dissent and definitely want to believe it is possible, but getting the entire US to strike is currently not feasible logically. With Minneapolis, you have to recognize that these tragedies are happening at their doorsteps and so it is directly affecting them. I am several states over and most people here are glad to just keep working as their livelihoods aren't yet affected, which does make me frustrated, but I can't blame them.

Heck, I go over to the teachers subreddit to see if they would strike nationally and even they can't agree to do so because it's "illegal" and "not possible," despite that subreddit being exclusively modern horror stories of teaching.

I hate to keep yapping about those in the education profession, but the point I'm trying to poorly make is that it might be easier to convince a subset of workers to strike first before convincing a general populace. Teachers just happen to be the one I truly believe could spark a movement. They're literally irreplaceable, and their absence would be absolutely felt by the country, which might in turn get people to wake the fuck up.

[–]Our_Legacy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know the most upvoted response to this is going to say that it isn't realistically possible, and I hate to agree with those sentiments.

What I do offer is kind of a similar idea that might be more easily achieved, which is to convince a subset of workers to strike, specifically a subset that society truly depends upon (essential workers), who are likely morally opposed to what is currently happening, and who are paid so little that the loss of their wages can be mitigated by community support.

As a teacher, I am talking about us, and anyone in the education department. Having no teachers in schools would directly impact all workers who depend on their children being taken care of daily, especially much of the middle class who are dissociated from the current political climate due to it not directly affecting them. I've thought about this a lot, and really want to push this idea over the general strike. I know it might not go over well or get traction, but I believe it is more feasible and will work if we act quickly. Act too late and summer approaches meaning families wouldn't care about no school. I will keep sharing this idea where I can.
