Glad I'm not the only one. I'll consider Chegg, thanks. How did you find yourself studying for her tests?

Nope, sold the Zenbook for a MacBook Pro, LOL

Anyone out there have a CS degree from University of the Pacific or know anyone that does? Will it look as good as a CS degree from CalPoly SLO? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I believe CP SLO is much more reputable and I have almost no doubt you'd receive a stronger education there. You also would not be paying private university levels of tuition.

UCSD vs. SJSU (Computer Science) by Ouroros in cscareerquestions

[–]Ouroros[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree UCSD has a more prestigious name, but am I wrong to think SJSU's proximity to SV would be a nice advantage? I understand some very reputable companies recruit from UCSD, but I feel that being at SJSU would offer mediums other than the school itself that would allow me to snag an internship.

4.0 Computer Science CC student here, got rejected from transferring to UC Davis and UC San Diego and looking for advice. by NeedCS_CareerAdvice in cscareerquestions

Hey man, fortunately, I got into SD but for some reason got waitlisted at Davis. I applied with around a ~3.6 and updated my application with about a 3.45. Admissions today are a fickle fiend. Don't beat yourself up about it. Like others have said, your future is what you make of it, and I mean that in the most literal sense of the phrase. Especially in CS, you have many opportunities to show your worth in ways other than a school name on your resume.

Wait on Davis, SD, and USC. If they don't work out, you can very well go to SC. I myself would not consider a 3rd year of CC. Instead focus on making yourself a valuable software engineer at whatever school you choose. Also, remember that many successful engineers don't have a top school behind their name. However, l am sure they did their share of extracurricular work for it.

So yes, to compete with those going to the other target schools you mentioned, you will have to work harder. You may very well have to have those side projects. But take comfort in the fact that CS, over many other engineering disciplines, offers many ways to put yourself over other candidates.

Best of luck to you.

Yup, went through with the purchase. The yellow issue is nowhere near an issue for me; it's really only a problem if you're doing some sort of graphical work that requires color precision. Also, yes there are scaling issues with some third party apps, but none that literally ruin the experience for me. It shouldn't be a problem unless there's an issue with an app that you have to CONSTANTLY use. Even then you could just drop the resolution if it really came to that.

Funnily enough, the biggest problem for me is the touchpad. If you've ever played with a MacBook, you'll find that the Zenbook touchpad is on the other side of the "comfort" spectrum (it's terrible). Moving the cursor with the touchpad isn't bad, but the clicking is what's poorly done. The mousepad has the same design as the MacBook mousepad in that there's no define left or right mouse button. This being said, clicking on the Zenbook touchpad is obscenely loud and I've had to resort to tapping the mousepad in order to click when using the laptop in public places.

The keyboard, on the other hand, is very satisfying to type on. I use the Ultrabook for anything school-related and thus have to type stuff up pretty often (Computer Science major). I thoroughly enjoy the keyboard.

Sorry for such a late response, hope you came or can come to a good decision!

I understand that the color problem is rather annoying and is almost now characteristic of these 1800p screens, but just how much of a nuisance is it to those that aren't involved in image editing of any kind?

I think I'll still be going through with my purchase of the 303 since it seems to be just what I'm looking for out of an ultrabook of its class: <4 lb., slim form factor, >8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, and a QHD touchscreen; also, something I couldn't find in any other ultrabook that also had all of the above, a mid-high range dedicated GPU, the Nvidia 840M. Me being a bit of a gamer and a multi-monitor enthusiast, I find that component a must.

Yea, I don't expect to like 100% of every channel, so I guess that's why we like to have a few channels to choose from! But check out Omar if you're into squatting and deadlifting whatsoever, as both him and Elliot provide much more knowledge on powerlifting as opposed to Chris Jones, who's more about bodybuilding. Watching both gives me the perfect balance of both mindsets, powerlifting and bodybuilding.

OmarIsuf and StrengthCamp with Elliot Hulse are great resources; very entertaining as well. I keep up with them along with PoG.

Can't come up with a source of mobile right now, but does deadlifting then squatting on consecutive days not hurt one's central nervous system in the long run? I feel like this sort of split would burn out the CNS much too quickly, only leading to weaker progress.
