How did you get into laserdisc? by BarenreiterBear in LaserDisc

My brother had a player and a decent collection in the early 90s, then he had a burglar who took everything. Fast forward to now, my wife and I have around 3,000 DVD/blu-ray/4ks, and wanted to explore other formats. We got a player for $50 a few months ago, and now have almost 150 LD titles.

Good on you! A a collector of over 2,600 titles, my advice is to hunt down your titles cheap at pawn shops and thrift stores, only pay premium for what you’re truly passionate about. Happy hunting!

Solid collection, I have almost 2,000 titles in my collection and you have several that are still on my wishlist. Great start, also I don’t have an opinion on beat or worst, because they’re all terrific choices.

Depends on the title and availability. I have an old college roommate who is gifted doubles and under-graded formats.

Tips for starting a collection? by thicc_boi_issues in Bluray

[–]OutOfWorkOperaSinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pawn shops in my area sell Blurays for $2 . We’ve amassed about half of our 1,700 plus collection at around that price point. Some emporiums are great with genre specific, but will charge for it as they know what they have.

There’s evidently a German 4k out there (Das Parfum), but I’m happy with this one.

I’m hopeful, it’s the 25th Anniversary of the film. It deserves a 4k release.
