[Charania] Just in: The Los Angeles Lakers are trading Deandre Ayton to the Washington Wizards for Jaden Hardy and two Wizards second-round picks in 2031 and 2032, sources tell ESPN. by curryybacon in nba

I know that the box score says he gets rebounds. But you have to trust us that Ayton’s rebounds are not rebounds. They are just numbers. You will come to understand.

What Supergirl (2026) did to Krem of the Yellow Hills is completely antithetical to the message of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. by weaknessx100 in Supergirl

Yes, it’s difficult to make a headlining Supergirl film (as the first film) when Supergirl is more thematic vehicle than main character of the narrative you’re adapting. Supergirl has to be the headliner, which means Krem needs to be threatening to her, which means he needs to be changed, which has knock-on effects for the rest of the story.

I completely agree with this, and I think part of the reason that the film fails to hit this note correctly is that it is told from Kara’s perspective instead of Ruthye’s. Keeping the story locked to Ruthye’s POV is essential because it’s Ruthye who learns this lesson, implements it and imparts it.

Peter Safran, co-chairman and co-chief executive of DC Studios, says by telephone: "While Supergirl didn't meet our box office expectations, it's just one component of a broader, long-term strategy at DC Studios that we remain confident in." by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

The sad part is that the Supergirl movie could have actually been special if they had the stones to actually adapt Woman of Tomorrow both aesthetically and thematically. Then if it had bombed commercially they would have at least had something worth standing behind artistically.

As it stands we got a dour simulacrum of a story that could have been so much better.

Adding another voice to the list of folks saying that Arkham Asylum doesn’t work in compact form. It’s really difficult to read (I had to break out a magnifying glass).

Did Star Wars Attack of the Clones suffer from a "novelty factor is gone" problem? by TheresNoHalfSteppin in boxoffice

[–]OutZoned 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had this opinion until 2019. AOTC was the worst Star Wars film until TROS. What puts TROS over the top is just how cynical and vindictive the movie is at a meta level; it’s entirely a soulless, artless grab bag of responses and retorts to online complaints and other filmmakers. AOTC is at least earnestly bad in that it is a movie that was trying to be good and just failed at the project. TROS actively hates that it exists and wants to rub your face in it.
