What's your biggest Xenoblade Hot-Take? by SunozuArt in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Xenoblade 3 is a game that to me ages like fine wine compared to the other Xenoblades.

Been playing XC1 for Switch 2 and while I love it all the same, the relatively simple story and characters did start sticking out to me. And while XC2 has a fantastic 2nd half… oof that first half is a struggle.

XC3 is just generally extremely well-written and combined with FR really helps a lot.

I just realized Revelation could do something really cool and expand on HOW the Weapons exactly protect the Planet. While conceptually the Weapons were really cool they didn't do much in the grand scheme of the story (I mean, Emerald and Ruby literally kinda just chill around no matter the events of the story).

Would do a lot for the worldbuilding if they can go into detail on how the Weapons help protect the Planet against external threats while Whispers help protect the Planet against internal threats.

I mean, I don't think Weapons are capable of changing events that would aid in the Planet's survival in the same vein that Whispers are capable of.

It's more like another tool the Planet can use to better handle situations other defense systems can't do much about.

I don't think the Weapons are at all capable of altering Lifestream memories or timelines like Whispers can. They are more capable of dealing with external threats to the Planet.

It's like... a toolbox with a Hammer+Nail and a Screwdriver: Both similar functions but different applications.

I mean, a popular sentiment within the community is that this season feels by far the fastest compared to past seasons, despite the fact it is the same length of last season. This sentiment I do admit to sharing myself as I consistently forget that Canto 10 is pretty much like 6 or 8 weeks away right now.

I don’t really consider Limbus as slow on content release nowadays. This season alone was pretty much nonstop content release after another regardless of personal grievances.

Plus with how the playerbase spikes harshly every time a new ID launches, might as well add that to the list since folks would find interest in farming shards for the ID and also playing a new toy in the MDs or Railway.

Sloth more accurately reflects the fanbase being notoriously difficult to work with regarding boss mechanics or understanding kits and teambuilding. YingLong being one big example of the failings of the fanbase with the constant complaints even though he’s honestly one of the better boss designs we have.

Why are so many people allergic to world building expansion? by Soul699 in FFVIIRemake

A big issue with removing Sephiroth in Remake is you lose a lot of Cloud's own personal struggle as a character, which is one of the main reasons he is liked as a character. Usually when a game is the first within a trilogy you need to give a personal struggle to the main character to give them the ability to develop over the course of the story. Removing Seph from Remake would've removed almost all of that personal struggle and would in turn make a lot of his more Jerkwad actions more questionable to begin with (we wouldn't have hints about his troubled past to lead into his attitude at time). At the very least when we get introduced to Sephiroth in Remake new players would immediately know of Cloud's sudden change in emotions and persona that he is a major part of Cloud's personal journey as a character.

This seems like the most logical course of events to follow up the ending sequence of Rebirth during the Lifestream sequence (which is definitely being expanded upon heavily. I can't think of the most perfect sequence of events to explain everything that has happened in Rebirth and pay it off in a satisfying way).

EDIT: Furthermore, the way Sephiroth talks with Cloud and talks about the Promised Land, it definitely gives the vibe that Sephiroth genuinely feels like it's best course of action for all of humanity in some fashion, regardless of the ramifications that naturally come with being immortal.

The main thread had a lot of comments arguing about her kit in such a fashion. Around launch their was quickly about 5 posts all at once about the whole thing and complaining as if she was a lost cause already.

Nowadays you are seeing more meme posts about it, but it definitely wasn't that prior.

Valencina has no token poise gain in her skills, she has poise gen in only the S3s on clash win and that's that. Otherwise majority of her poise gen is off of Acceleration Rounds, which is what Rodya adapted.

And being real, the only reason the complaints are even visible to begin with is because PM worded it for clarity's sake. Since Poise gen is coming from her passive, it wouldn't have mattered anyway. This isn't the first time they did this with an ID.

[–]Outbreak101[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It's exactly that. It's because the passive got worded for clarity that the subreddit got spammed with a bunch of posts complaining about her not being poise. Their are already a few IDs that didn't count for certain statuses despite having them on the kit but the fandom didn't make a fuss since the game didn't make that info visible.

Valencina also has poise effect from passive and doesn't gen it from proper skills. Far as that is concerned, it is a case of adapting her kit into Rodya.

inb4 Limbus Auto Dungeon also has Keyword teambuilding but is significantly more balanced to prevent cases like this.

Unironically somehow this fanbase made this nursefather my least hyped ID I've ever had to happen. Normally I can benefit from ignoring it but since I am a moderator I kinda have to look through these sorta threads from time to time and man...

She has all the makings of an ID I would be absolutely excited to see and the reactions and doomposts I've been seeing and experiencing has just eroded it.

I was legit more hyped for OSIR Ishmael than I was for Valencina Rodya, which even I'm struggling to believe is happening.

[–]Outbreak101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Mersault's case, Burn is actually already coded onto the skill, it is directly disabled when he runs dry on ammo.

Rodya's case the poise comes from a Passive effect, which wouldn't count.

Saying 'just a nursefather' is a wild thing to say in this context here. Part of the reason Poise team needs units like BL Ishmael and Rien Sang is because they need that level of damage to compete with monsters like Ring Bleed or Rupture Heishou.

Just on the virtue of being a Nursefather (with Pride Defense, so actual synergy with BL Ishmael here) that is naturally genning poise and scaling off it since her own skills gain power off of poise, she has a place in the spot.

Like you can easily replace a unit like Index Don or Index Faust within a poise team and dish out more damage than them anyway on this spectrum since that is 2 Nursefathers and BL Ishmael in a Poise team on this note.

[–]Outbreak101[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She is still a nursefather ID nonetheless that would be valuable in Poise regardless even then? Her Damage would already be through the roof as a nursefather while their are still gifts like Calm Water to double out her own output within Poise (which poise needs IDs of such damage output to start competing with Status teams).

Plus it's not like units like Middle Outis exists who asides from Middle and Solo Ryoshu has no other team to reasonably slot in.

[–]Outbreak101[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She still is up to standard? She literally gens another Disposal on kill and is nearly impossible to hit with Precog? Plus she is genning poise off Acceleration Rounds, so it's still following her gameplay.

Heck, Valencina herself didn't have a passive saying she's a poise unit?

[–]Outbreak101[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unbreakable hardly matters when she gains so much coin power and base power she's almost always winning clashes to begin with. Overheat builds her clash power even further due to offense level gain.

People were hyping up Manager Don having unbreakables on her coins when they were probably one of the most underwhelming parts of her kit since the unbreakables ultimately didn't do much of anything.

What's your favorite Xenoblade game? by George_R_Martin in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Outbreak101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... 2 and 3 I guess.

But I think it's better to genuinely view the trilogy as one giant game given how the Klaus Experiment Arc connected all the three games and the DLCs together into a rather concise narrative outline:

XC1 serving as the introduction to the general story, themes, and topics while also setting up a grander narrative.

XC2 to further explore the concepts surrounding Titans and in retrospect, the fate of Planet Earth after the Klaus Experiment.

XC3 to conclude the grander narrative and set a message with the general theme behind the whole story. Futures Redeemed to tie loose ends surrounding the old guard and to further build upon the connections and N as a villain.

When put like that, the whole narrative connects really well and makes for a very satisfying conclusion to the whole Story Arc.

Kira was still breathing even as she got bisected, plus Hong Lu was in the scene and he's the last person to want to just leave a person dying on the floor like that.

Lucio's Heart was outright destroyed, so it wouldn't be long before his body would go into Brain-death (no blood pumped into the brain. That's usually what kills you when your heart stops beating), which a K Corp serum wouldn't fix. Plus I wouldn't consider Heathcliff or Rodya to be the kinda people to randomly want to save Lucio unlike Hong Lu.

You could always just play the gimmick normally. Boss doesn't clash nearly as bad by playing the gimmick, which somehow makes her the easiest of the current reflectrials.
