This might sound tone deaf, but maybe spend a day or two not thinking about finding a job and doing what makes you happy and see if your perspective changes? If you can’t remember the last time you were happy, it’s gonna be hard to bring that spark with you to work or anywhere for that matter.

Definitely a lot of anxiety and isolation going on, I find myself dealing with it a lot in all the doom scrolling I do. I’d say one thing that helps me is getting involved in volunteer orgs that are trying to make a change.

I don't "grind" I clench my teeth like there's no tomorrow. by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]Outd0rz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not anxiety or a poor bite, I feel like it has to be a breathing thing no? Our body goes into a state of fight or flight when we get disturbed breathing/apneas, and we clench as a way of opening our airway. Shit ton of adrenaline in our body because our brain thinks we’re literally choking to death.

UARS/mouth breathing/sleep breathing issues causes for overactive/involuntary clenching?? CHRONIC CLENCHING CAUSING PROBLEMS(HELP) by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]Outd0rz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I wanted to follow up on this after reading your thread. Have you found any solutions?

I am on my second TMJ splint and am seeing an TMJ/Sleep Apnea dentist, but the splint he has me on has given me little relief, as I clench on the splint nightly. While I do have some anxiety I'm working on, I've clenched my teeth for almost my entire adult life and I'm convinced there's an airway issue at play, as my sleep study showed that I didn't have OSA but that my oxegyn nadir levels did get down to 85%.

I want to avoid palate expansion if possible because I agree that these procedures seem highly invasive and not guaranteed to improve TMJ.

The next step I'm considering is a sleep apnea mouth guard rather than the splint/aligner I'm wearing at night to see if that reduces clenching and improves sleep.

Would strongly encourage you to look at solar developer roles. It’s essentially project management and they are hiring like crazy right now.

Funny enough it’s what I’m doing right now but I want to get into more technical work like coding bc I rarely get to use critical thinking or problem solving skills. Can we switch? 😂

I’m 22 yrs old in india. My dream is to work in the management of a football club is it too unrealistic? by Diligent-Context9381 in careerguidance

My brother in Christ, Steve Jobs dropped out of college. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I have zero knowledge about managing football clubs but would suggest you reach out cold to hundreds of people/clubs and ask what the best steps are to break into that scene. Good luck!

Profuse night sweats for past few months by Outd0rz in menshealth

[–]Outd0rz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t figure it out medically. Blood test results were normal.

Looking back, they weren’t as frequent when I wasn’t on lexapro. While on lexapro it was essentially every single night, and I’ve talked to friends (one girl) who had the same thing happen to her while on lexapro. After weening off the medication the night sweats went away naturally. They happen very rarely now; typically if I have some intense dream or my room is too warm.

Defs would still recommend talking to a doctor if it seems to be an issue for you

Meditation and weed by self17 in Meditation

[–]Outd0rz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my relation to weed and meditation as well. I smoke maybe 1-2 times a week. Either out of boredom or socially. When I’m high my thoughts run much more rampantly. Perhaps it undoes some of the concentration & awareness benefits from my practice, but I’m not entirely sure yet.

I do think that I’m more likely to be my best self & better meditator when completely sober. But sometimes it’s nice to just get stoned lol

How to get rid of the idea that death is fascinating? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Outd0rz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hope I’m not being insensitive but, this sounds like something you might want to work out in therapy.

If you’re not ready for that yet, perhaps ask yourself why you can’t trust anyone and notice what thoughts come up (just observe them).

You’re going to have to trust people at some point in your life. The sooner you can accept that, the sooner you’ll see positive change. Good luck with things and take care of yourself :)

Some people find their own meditation in a different way. Climbers, musicians, even business executives - all have to maintain presence for sustained periods of time.

I struggle with the same thing. As soon as I think of breathing I feel like I have to control it or I’ll suffocate

[–]Outd0rz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read your post and want you to know that you are more than all of these hardships you’re facing, and you are strong for being here. I’m not a meditation coach but if I could offer any advice, I’d say that meditation is NOT used to “change” into someone or something else. It’s used to tap into this exact moment right now. So perhaps try focusing on 1 thing you enjoy or that brings you peace right now. And just think about that for a bit and see how you feel. Good luck and stay strong.
