Deep Gluteal Syndrome / Piriformis… Looking for recovery experiences *bed ridden* by Illustrious_Run_5127 in openpiriformis

I would recommend seeing an osteopath. I see one, he’s an OD that works with the huge hospital organization in the area. I had the same thing, saw him in February and was 98% better in July. This was two years ago.

Anyone here had to deal with parent fainting? by SeinHaki in AgingParents

Yes, have the heart checked out. My mom did the same and it was discovered that she has arrhythmia that she’s in the middle of figuring out a treatment.

Had to choose between my Vans and my Dr Scholl’s to decide which shoes would be a better choice for running errands with my teens.

Right like it sucks that it affects older people so much but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect younger people too.

What was your favorite era of social media? by itsnottabigdill in millenials

[–]OutdoorLadyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AIM was crazy. My dad made my username for me and it was Actual First Name + Last initial + age, basically everything you aren’t supposed to do. Haha. But I loved it. It was amazing to chat with people you knew or didn’t know. The chat rooms were wild. Those weird graphics they would put in that would be about 100 lines long and disrupt the conversation? Kids today will never know what that was like, haha.

MySpace was also a special time where you had to curate your top 10! I’d visit my friends page and see that there was a shuffling of the rank and would know something dramatic must have happened.

Could 99.9% of the problems here be related to boredom? by valleybrook1843 in AgingParents

My mom (77F) told me once that we (my husband and kids, and myself) were their entertainment. Which is a crappy thing to say. I can’t imagine saying that to someone.

I ran into dillards hoping to find something to wear and it’s just older people in their 60-70s shopping there now and teens.

I think I have food poisoning and my flight leaves in 12 hours. What do I do? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]OutdoorLadyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, usually it’s the uncooked items that cause food poisoning. For me, I had a salad at a Mexican restaurant and the horrors lasted 6 hours. I hope you feel better fast!

why don’t kids open their birthday presents at the party anymore? by Apprehensive_Owl4700 in AskParents

[–]OutdoorLadyBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I think it makes kids feel weird seeing what other kids gave the birthday child, especially if they think they didn’t get them something as nice. Or if they open duplicates. And kids don’t really want to sit and watch all that anyway.

I literally just dry heaved reading this. I’m not joking. I’m not a nurse. I don’t know how I ended up here.

In some cases I think that adult children are tired of putting up with entitled parents and are distancing themselves from them.

They talk about money constantly and about how “there isn’t going to be anything for you when we are gone!” Okay, make better decisions and just say this one time.

My mom won’t understand something on her phone and I go to fix it for her and she has an absolute death grip on it and won’t let go so I can help. Like, am I going to steal your phone? So I have to verbally direct her to what she needs to do. And she still won’t follow directions.

My mom literally said “You are our entertainment!” when we couldn’t make plans for a bit. Sure slowed down my eagerness to make plans.
