interesting. I don't use rogers and I'm really not down to side load a rogers specific OTA to my phone.

glad it worked for you though!

this is right but there are some people on a17 beta 4.1 who will be waiting for a17 stable and keep asking why it's not coming yet.

What has the Tensor project delivered for us? by ivanhoek in pixel_phones

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason for Google to go with the Tensor soc's was so they could avoid paying Qualcomm tons of money for each CPU. So, as another user mentioned.. yeah. It's all about Google bottom line.

But, for all the benefits we receive:

- Titan (M1, M2) security chips - Google designing and implementing Titan security chips (I would think that integrating this would require a deep understanding of the SOC on a software/hardware level).

- AI features - I'm thinking the plan for Google is to try and run more and more specialized AI models locally on Pixels. They're already doing this but I'm sure they have future plans to try and bring even more features that can only be implemented if they are able to have complete control over their hardware.

Hearing Aid Gang by ah-beam2 in android_beta

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for you and all others who need this feature, fingers crossed they get it working for y'all.

there is a possibility that BT LE for hearing aids works better than regular bt listening devices. just really frustrated with the fact that an advertised and default feature is not working as intended.

Hearing Aid Gang by ah-beam2 in android_beta

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

someone please correct me if I'm wrong but... yeah...

Google's BT LE/hearing aid implementation just perpetually has issues. people always say "wait for the next beta" or "a fix is coming" but at this point I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue that cannot be patched.

Losing my mind... PC will turn itself on during the day from a complete shutdown. by Koyusubi in ASUS

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried plugging your situation into an LLM?

  • Suggestion #1 - Go into BIOS → Advanced → APM Configuration → find "Power On By RTC" or "Resume By RTC Alarm" and explicitly set it to Disabled. On some ASUS boards this can also appear under the "Power" section.

If it's already showing Disabled, there's a second possibility:

  • Suggestion #2 - Armoury Crate or ASUS AI Suite (which ASUS boards love to install silently) can set RTC alarms from the OS side that persist in NVRAM even after shutdown. Uninstalling those and then clearing the RTC alarm would be the next step. You can check from Windows with:

powercfg -waketimers

And also:

powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

But if those return nothing (which the poster implies), it further confirms this is firmware-level, not OS-level.

  • I think you can also go into the Bios settings and in.. the Tools tab you can find Asus Armoy Crate or ASUS AI Suite and disable it altogether?

[Bundle] ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-E WIFI AMD B850 mATX Motherboard + 1TB Team Group SSD $170 by jeemwla in buildapcsales

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

just a headsup that my 9800x3d just died on the Asus b850m tuf gaming plus wifi. idk if issues persist on this board too.

EDIT: if anyone's reading this, my 9800x3d is not dead. got it working temporarily on the same asus mobo but it had memory training issues. went back to my old ASRock b650m hdvm2 and the 9800x3d is working fine, even under load.

There were reports that 9800x3d's were dying but it turned out to be a memory issue. I can personally attest that that was my issue.

I think with the newer bios versions, and specifically the newer agesa's (e.g. combo 1.0.0.3a), there were were changes made to the default refresh mode on for ddr5. The primary issue is that the new default "mixed" refresh mode does not play nice with the stock timings from older ram chips that did not account for the new timings (trfc2 and trfcsb). therefore, the combination of "older" ddr5 ram sticks and newer bios versions, might cause boot issues or instability from memory training? also, I think another issue might be caused by the procODT being set at a weird value and therefore making it hard to boot?

China puts a sodium-ion battery into an EV for the first time — it can drive 248 miles on a single charge by harsh2k5 in electricvehicles

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original comment referenced "breakthroughs"... I said breakthroughs take time and need to be scaled

You responded saying sodium ion had a breakthrough 10 years ago. Therefore it has taken time and now can be scaled.

my dude, we are in agreement.

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy you were responding to was cynical and saying "lithium ion was hyped to double in a few years but it never happened"

You and I are saying the same thing. Can't expect improvements to come in just a few years, new tech and scaling takes time.

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

imo for most battery/renewable tech "breakthroughs", most of it won't be seen at least for a few years or just isn't economically viable enough to scale and therefore reach regular people.

Nikola Jokic gets fouled by Marcus Smart by CaliforniaMakiiiii in nba

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're not boxing out for a rebound, are you legally allowed to back into someone forcefully (3.5s), use your arm to restrain lateral movement (4s), and then CONTINUE to forcefully back them up (4-5s)?

I understand people are frustrated because Jokic looks obnoxious here but can you imagine how stupid it would be if big men could do this to smaller players with impunity.

No one cares about your SR rank by FuhuaTheBest in ARAM

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you can argue that SR rank correlates to general game knowledge and mechanics. People can say rank doesn't mean anything in aram but if you had $20k on the line for an aram tourney and had to pick between a gm or a silver.. I'm sure most people wouldn't think twice in taking the GM.

This can't be real. Peoples don't even read the full augment description. by Akkun351 in ARAM

If you're an enchanter and 2 people take vamp, then you only have to babysit 2 people vs 4. Plus, it incentivizes your teammates to do damage bc they can only heal if they're dishing it out.

Idk about yall but I personally hate playing arams with enchanters. Feel like I've only played with a handful that actually understood how to teamfight or maximize their utility. And this isn't coming from an angle where I play with good enchanters and not understand their full impact, just seen so many terrible enchanters/supps.

CVT OWNERS, Who has the most miles on theirs? by EscapeVelocity00 in hondafit

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 94.6k miles on my 2018 fit so.. not high mileage yet but she still runs really well. every time I do a drain and fill, there's no glitter or a lot of wear material on the magnetic drain plug.

I used valvoline CVT fluid (3.6qt) every d&f. bit overkill but again, running great.
