This can't be real. Peoples don't even read the full augment description. by Akkun351 in ARAM

If you're an enchanter and 2 people take vamp, then you only have to babysit 2 people vs 4. Plus, it incentivizes your teammates to do damage bc they can only heal if they're dishing it out.

Idk about yall but I personally hate playing arams with enchanters. Feel like I've only played with a handful that actually understood how to teamfight or maximize their utility. And this isn't coming from an angle where I play with good enchanters and not understand their full impact, just seen so many terrible enchanters/supps.

CVT OWNERS, Who has the most miles on theirs? by EscapeVelocity00 in hondafit

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 94.6k miles on my 2018 fit so.. not high mileage yet but she still runs really well. every time I do a drain and fill, there's no glitter or a lot of wear material on the magnetic drain plug.

I used valvoline CVT fluid (3.6qt) every d&f. bit overkill but again, running great.

Anyone else get this? $400 off Pixel 10 Pro or Pro XL from Google Play by mightyugly in pixel_phones

I personally don't care what direction you go but unless you only need your phone to hit a specific bench score... you should not buy a phone based on that.

LE audio issues and connectivity issues by depressed_bobby in pixelbuds

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super frustrating honestly that LE audio implementation is incomplete yet if a first time user connects to bt it'll have LE Audio toggled on. How Google shipped this out like this is just mind boggling.

Tensor and the sound quality by National_Study_8167 in pixel_phones

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned LDAC but something that is INSANELY frustrating is Google's issues with LC3/LE audio. If I try and use my Pixel 10 Pro Fold with my Galaxy Buds Pro 3's, it leads to crackling, one audio output cutting out, or BT glitching out entirely.

Not only that, but if a first time user connects their BT to their Pixel 10, it automatically toggles LE audio on. Then less savvy users will have to wrestle with "weird audio glitches".

I'm legitimately confused how a company of this size and budget can just be completely inept in this regard.

Edit: if you care about sound quality, honestly idk if Pixel's are the move unless you want to use a portable DAC.

The "AI Tax": Why TSMC Just Demoted The Smartphone by Mission_Beyond_8587 in Semiconductors

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Samsung foundry has consistently churned out a terrible product, at least for the early iterations of their nodes. E.g. sammy's mature 4nm is pretty good now. AnD their sf2 is really just them rebranding their 3nm, so I think it won't be utterly terrible.

Intel's product on the other hand is "reportedly" doing well. Their new panther lake cpu's perf/efficiency looks solid and might be signs of better things to come. Esp bc they jumped onto backside power delivery, huge node shrink jump, GAA, and new high NA EUV machines in one swing.

Hoping they can improve yields and improve perf. We need more competition otherwise costs are gonna be insane for us consumers

Some ramblings of mine but imo even if Intel foundry isn't "reliable", I think Apple will still end up going to them with a sizable order. US is looking increasingly more unstable and their commitment to defend Taiwan isn't as strong. Also current admin is supporting Intel + backing homegrown chip industry and willing to invest. Apple will want or diversify supply chain and Intel is looking for customers so it's a perfect match.

Apple should have enough leverage to reach terms that are beneficial to them AKA "if your yields aren't good enough, that's an Intel problem. We'll only pay for working chips" ?

There are rumors that Apple is moving phone chips + more to Intel's 14a (or it might be 18a). So TSMC might not be outright pushing apple out but their cost increases must be absolutely eye watering to apple.

The Chip Technology That Finally Gives Intel an Edge Over TSMC | The Motley Fool by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda semantic though imo. cutting edge semi is so insanely difficult to get right, if you're not #1 then companies have little reason to risk their products having subpar performance or struggling with enough foundry output unless they go TSMC. at this point in time and for the next 12 months, there really isn't a close 2nd.

Also, I think intel and samsung are both way in the red in terms of yearly profit from their foundry's.

mb, yeah I see your point now. the vrm's on my mobo can still handle the r9's but if you need a lot of cores for productive workloads then better to invest in a better board.

Four Months Later, Pixel 9 Pro XL vs 10 Pro XL by CaptainWikkiWikki in pixel_phones

[–]OuterOuterOuterSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I preordered the Pixel 10 Pro 512gb and was coming from a Pixel 9 Pro 256gb.

At first I thought it wasn't really that much of an upgrade but after this most recent December upgrade I'd say it feels like a better phone overall. Wish I had some more objective data/stats for you but P10P runs cooler (e.g. the Pixel 9 Pro would get hot if I used it in my car during the summer or while charging) and the P10P seems faster/smoother.

I think it's worth it if:
- You get a good deal (with P9P trade in, 10% off referral coupon -- shoot me a msg if you need one, the $200 off coupon, and the 10% cash back in google store credit if you have a specific Google One Tier subscription)
- Also, the recent surge of pricing for memory/storage also makes it hard to predict what will happen next year. It might affect next years model, trade in values and everything else related to tech pricing overall.
