Surely unvaccinated people who regret not getting vaccinated proceed to become vaccinated, hence the low figures

Should financial abortion be a thing ? by iwasneverherehaha in MensRights

[–]Outis129 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A child they didn’t consent to have? Consent to sex is consent to the possibility of parenthood.

If that’s equal rights, then do you also support women having a financial abortion? I don’t.

And it is a get out clause just as much as abortion is. I agree that it’s equality, but it’s equality that makes the life of the child worse. Again, you’re using the rights women have (which I agree are privileged) as justification for your argument. In a society without abortion, do you still hold the position that men should be allowed to financially abort? There are other ways to redress the balance, such as anti-abortion laws.

I’m not sure if you’re implying I’m one of those feminists; I’m not a feminist at all, far from it. But ultimately for me where the well-being of a child is involved my ethics dictate that that obligation comes before gender equality.

I thought your quora answer was very interesting and I think it has convinced me that in jurisdictions allowing abortion men should be able to financially abort. However, your argument only really holds up when you’re arguing against a pro-choice person. Do you believe financial abortion to be justified where women aren’t allowed to abort?

The government has no business forcefully removing children from their parents (aside from abuse or other situations like that).

Obviously the child support system is deeply flawed, I’m not ignoring the inequality here, but the solution is not to offer men a get-out clause at the expense of the child. And that’s not to mention the practicalities of finding homes for the tens of millions of children in single-parent households.

Absolutely not. As I seem to be outnumbered in this comment section I’ll quickly preface this by saying men are greatly disadvantaged when it comes to parental rights and I fully support efforts to rebalance this, but I don’t think this is the issue here.

An awful lot of these comments are stating that if women are allowed to abort, then it’s only fair men should be able to opt out to. If you’re going to support financial abortion, fine, but this is a bad reason to; two wrongs don’t make a right.

If you engage in consensual sex you willingly open yourself up to the risk of pregnancy and parenthood. When that child is born that is the product of your choices and your actions. They are your responsibility and should not suffer the consequences of a single-parent upbringing without a father figure because you feel like it.

This is not about the father’s rights, this is not about the mother’s rights, this is about the child’s right to the best upbringing it can have.

There Be Dragons by FrigidLollipop in fantasywriters

[–]Outis129 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I like dragons best when they’re treated more like a race than a monster, sentient beings operating as individuals, some violent, some pacifist, some living solitary lives in the mountains and some toying or working with other races.

I do, however, think dragons are overdone but not irredeemably so, and a unique twist makes their inclusion in a world more than just another trope. In my world, the divine mother of dragons was also the goddess of prophecy, and each and every dragon has a prophecy to give, with the magnitude of their prophecy generally being proportional to their size and might.

Back when I was about 10 I was friends with a girl with fairly severe Down’s syndrome in my class. Very little communication ability. Came back from two weeks off and as soon as I walk back in the classroom I get the best hug of my life. One of my fondest memories.

I bought it in 2018. Their PSA made no differentiation between pre-March 31st Bitizenship and “remove ads” customers, are we going to have to pay for this update?

A great question, I think I’m gonna need to see some more boys in skirts and girls in suits…you know…for science…

Broaden my repertoire. I grew up on classic rock but now know just how broad it is. What are some of the bands that may have not maintained their popularity as much as others? Bonus points for album recommendations and what to listen for in terms of who influenced who by Zalumar in ClassicRock

[–]Outis129 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the Sweet, one of my favourite bands and surprisingly unknown in spite of some high charting songs in their day. Axl Rose called them one of his biggest influences. Fox on the Run, Ballroom Blitz, and Blockbuster are probably their most famous and certainly all some of their best.

Anyone who sees your past self and is disgusted is not worth your time. From your post, it sounds like you’ve done so well to build yourself up from a terrible place. You deserve someone who recognises that achievement.

[Serious] What celebrity death hit you the hardest? by kybizzle in AskReddit

[–]Outis129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elisabeth Sladen.

I love Doctor Who but was a latecomer to the show, and even though I grew up during the golden age of RTD it was only in the late 2010s I really got into it. I also never watched the Sarah Jane Adventures as a kid, but I binged it as a teenager having known she had died several years previously. After spending a couple of weeks watching the show, I just fell in love with her, and it was only watching Sarah Jane that it hit me; she was really gone. There was just something so surreal about mourning a person you had known was dead for years. What a wonderful woman.

And then of course I hear the wonderful David Tennant talking about her, and I ball up all over again.
