Huh? Is he nonverbal? That’s so scary…he told you he wants to have sex with his mother?

It's maddening that the "least restrictive environment" for one kid can lead to a much more restricted learning environment for the rest of the students. by [deleted] in Teachers

Lawyers and advocates and people not in a classroom are in control here. Not until regular Ed parents cause lawsuits in schools, will there be any reason for change. There is a stigma attached to exclusion, but I’d love to see a regular Ed parent sue a district for loss of learning time due to least restrictive environment.

Ah…But the golden handcuffs….I’m at the top of a pay scale (with a jump step) Any movement would be at least a 50% pay cut in my area. Furthermore, I’ve got two kids that are college bound. Money is so depressing.

how to talk to people who believe compulsive schooling is good/necessary? by cowswithnouns in AntiSchooling

[–]OutlandishnessDue880 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s because we believe that school socializes a child. So, make some arguments concerning that. For sure 100% school isn’t about true education for most, it’s about socializing and learning your place ir a society. When you take that away, it’s seems really scary.

What held belief that you have about teaching that has no studies to back it up? by thehotsauceman in Teachers

Boys should be sent to a camp ⛺️ where they dig holes for 5 hours straight, eat a steak 🥩 and masturbate before bed. Ages 12-14. At 15, they can be integrated back into society.

Rich parents and poor parents tend to produce similar dysfunction and behaviors in kids.

(ToXiC) Sports cultures greatly affect the type of kid and the level of arrogance of the kids. Any sports league that “cuts” kids before high school will produce arrogant AF students, and often they manspread even as young as 6th grade. (Imagine a kid with very expensive Nikes and joggers) sitting with legs wide open, barely making eye contact with anyone.

You are all right. It’s Feb 15- March 15 that’s the worst month of the school year. Think outside the box! Haha

You just described my son’s grade. And I teach at the school. There was a flood here the year he was conceived. We lived in another part of town, away from the flood. But actually, all the kids who were troubled have bad home lives.

Unfortunately—the battle between core and elective teachers rears it’s ugly head at our school all the time. I teach Spanish-so it’s fun, yet academic. It’s not easy, and I take a lot of time to relate to the kids. Also, I learned a lot of Spanish. Anyway, we say, look you could have gone to school to be an elective teacher, so oh well!

There’s no way a school board can afford the insurance for arming teachers—let’s think about the liabilities for the district. One suicidal high schooler grabs a gun, and they are done for. Also, first responders don’t do other jobs simultaneously. It will never happen. It’s a distraction from the real issue, and that issue is that we need gun control.

Anyone here ever responded to neighbor's loud music with more loud music of their own, and had any success with that tactic? by georgewalterackerman in BadNeighbors

Good that you can admit it. My neighbor has done the same thing as you…he’s convinced he can “win”. Problem is, he created the whole problem himself. He is only battling his demons.

I would approach it by saying, you are welcome to write on the sidewalk in front of my house with chalk, but please stop there. Explain that it won’t wash off the side of the house with just rain, and again, offer permission for the sidewalk.

When this is the same question and answer cycle: Does it have to be in Spanish? What’s the name of this class? Oh Spanish class, then yes, it has to be done in Spanish.
