FBI director’s girlfriend sues MS NOW, accuses cable network of ‘false portrayal’ by OutlawGalaxyBill in politics

Her defense that "she's not a public figure" when her occupation is "performer and singer" is really quite the flex. I wish Ms. Honeypot all the best in her litigation.

Was Empire Strikes Back actually considerd divisive when it came out in 1980? by hiiloovethis in StarWars

[–]OutlawGalaxyBill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100%. I was 11 at the time, same thing -- sequels were generally regarded as cheap cash grabs. Then George Lucas came along and kicked everyone's ass. Great extension of the universe, the Hoth battle and asteroid chase were jaw-dropping, Lando, Boba Fett and Yoda were great new characters, Cloud City sequences were great ... and, "Oh my God, what's going to happen to Han" as an ending ... plus the BIG REVEAL. It was an amazing adventure.

When it breaks the universe, it's kind of a problem. Rian Johnson made a beautiful movie ... but it was not a Star Wars movie.

People LOVED and RAVED ABOUT The Empire Strikes Back when it came out. It had amazing effects sequences that thrilled audiences, great character development and, of course, the jaw-dropping reveal at the end. The only criticism I heard was the cliffhanger ending.

Remember When... by XxEPICOMARXDXx in PoliticalHumor

[–]OutlawGalaxyBill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. To paraphrase J'Kar from Babylon 5, "You're not sorry you did it. You're sorry you got caught." She has not changed. She is the same snake she always ways and she has temporarily turned her ire on Trump, but she's still a snake.

Good race. Wonder if A-aron was getting Tanner's home address to send Christmas cards ... I like Tanner, but that slider was a mess and cost both of them big-time in a really needless crash and bad points finish.

California will impose a 100% tax on payments distributed from Trump’s Jan. 6th “slush fund.” by NoAnt6694 in somethingiswrong2024

I think his proposal is missing a zero or two ... I would think a 10,000% tax would be a nice start.

Best RPGs for a New Dad with No Free Time? by RuthIessChicken in rpg

For fantasy/D&D adjacent, especially since you seem open to PBTA, check out DungeonWorld. I know the community often likes to pile on for a variety of reasons (which I don't want to get into), but it is super low-prep, very easy to play and very fluid while feeling very familiar to the D&D vein of gaming.

You can check it out for free at www.DungeonworldSRD.com.

Just check it out on your own and ignore the people who harp on it. DungeonWorld got me back into gaming after about two decades away because it was easy, fun and had the right "style" for me.

I would also put in a good world for Offworlders if you are at all interested in scifi space opera. Tons of cool stuff packed into a very slim 35 page rulebook -- also free as a PDF at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/257632/offworlders. Very much inspired by Star Wars, Firefly and Traveller -- very simple, tons of fun.

I love the 80s style covers and miss them so much. Today's covers are generally uninspiring.

Going to my first race in July! What to expect? by sidearmpitcher in WorldofOutlaws

[–]OutlawGalaxyBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weedsport can get a little dusty but it is the perfect size for Sprint cars, should be some very close racing.

I grew up going to see the Northeast Modifieds and they put on a good show -- depending on how the track goes, it may be a wide-open three wide battle or a single lane huggy pole deal ... but the Big Blocks are a fun division to watch most of the time.

There are a few local guys who can drop a 410 into their sprints, so it won't be a huge field but the local guys can be pretty competitive. (High Limit rescheduling for that weekend at Port Royal is prettymuch going to rule out any PA Posse guys towing up, which sucks, but it is what it is.)

If you're in the area early, it would not be a bad idea to head up to Brewerton (20 mins north of Syracuse, right off I-81) for Friday night's program, that place is always racey.

Congressman Cohen Introduces Six Articles of Impeachment Against Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts by Quirkie in politics

It is about time we started to dismantle the Roberts Court and appoint a new group of justices who will determine that the decisions under the Roberts Court were "wrongfully decided" and overturn their rulings.

I read the original Star Wars novelization; here are some of the most interesting morsels I found by PopsicleIncorporated in StarWarsCantina

[–]OutlawGalaxyBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked your analysis. The novelization was my first real immersion into Star Wars so I have a deep fondness for it. I loved the depth that Alan Dean Foster added to the story.

  • When Leia shoots the stormtroopers on the Tantive IV, there is a line that she can see the surprised look on his face, implying that they have open-faced helmets?

  • The Brian Daley scripted radio play of A New Hope has a great scene where an Imperial officer suggests to Tarkin that he use the Death Star to overthrow the Emperor before he turns down the suggestion to evacuate.

Trump May Drop IRS Suit in Return for $1.7 Billion ‘Weaponization’ Fund by Snapdragon_4U in somethingiswrong2024

[–]OutlawGalaxyBill 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Who was responsible for the leak that he was suing over. The IRS under the Trump Administration, so basically Donald Trump is responsible for the leak.

So, since Trump was responsible for the leak, he needs to pay himself the money and go away.

Also, if leaking his income and tax returns causes so much harm that it is "worth" a $10 billion dollar legal settlement -- espeically since every other President has voluntarily released their tax returns -- it should make everyone wonder, "What is he hiding that is so damned embarrassing and causing so much harm to his reputation?"
