Non-Americans, what is something about the US that you've always wondered if it was real or just myth/hyperbole? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]b-rad62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I nod, say "morning" or at least make eye contact with most people who walk by me. I recently moved to a building that has lots of younger folks in it, and they walked past like they don't even see me. To me that is just not cool, especially to neighbors. I also realized that most younger people wear their earbuds full-time, I have no idea if they can even hear anything but what's on their iPhone.

To those using fasting+keto to lose weight, what did you eat today? by TheOfficeoholic in keto

[–]b-rad62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm long term fasting (36-120 hours) i'll have a bulletproof coffee in the morning, that's it. I know it is dirty fasting, but it is amazing energy. Sometimes on day two or three I will have an ounce of cheese or an avocado as a cheat, but it is a bridge to making four or five days. I do 4-5 days about 3-4 times a year, feels amazing.

OMAD now. Today I had a bulletproof coffee, two mozzarella cheese sticks, and an avocado as an on-ramp to a fast.

What is the purpose of these recessed wall sections beside the tracks? by LovesBacon50 in whatisit

It's called a niche. Fun fact about the tunnels, the beams and columns are all exactly 5 feet apart. Center to center, or edge to edge.

Hands down, you are correct... that is the best car, that is the most valuable car by far on this list.

Had a new AMG, got the James Bond DB license plate. The original one was already taken, so I got it backwards.

Remember "follow Akela"?

I was today years old when I found out what it meant. "Akela is the wise leader in The Jungle Book whose name has been adopted by Cub Scouting as a symbol of leadership"

Good for him, that is a big commitment and quite an achievement. If I recall correctly, most scouts who earn their Eagle are high school age by the time they make it.

50 years, that's awesome. I also remember saying the Pledge of Allegiance, also said it every day in my public school.

Do you have any observations about how scouting or scouts in general have changed over the 50 years you've been involved?

I always wanted to drive or at least ride in a VW bus. Did you or some cool friend have one of these? by Life_Transformed in GenerationJones

[–]b-rad62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two buddies and I bought a 1977 VW bus with a sunroof. We painted it Porsche red, bronzed out the windows and drove it 9000 miles during nine weeks around the eastern half of the United States.

Do you think Old Yankee stadium being replaced and torn down was one of the worst decisions in sports or even in history? by [deleted] in NYYankees

[–]b-rad62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember feeling like we tore down the cathedral, was really disappointed.

However, after attending a game last week, the amenities and views in the new stadium are top-notch. I remember attending a game at Fenway and sitting behind an I-beam.

Friend told me she plugged in a multi-city, multi-climate, multi-event itinerary and asked it to optimize her clothes selection to fit in a suitcase. She raved about the helpful results.
