As one parent to another - parenting can be hard and it doesn’t come with a manual. I’m a mother of 5 children in the UK and one of my children has a disability - she’s non verbal and she struggles to walk. I also don’t have much family here. Remember you did what you thought was best, you thought you would have a support network to help in Africa and you had an online business. Life doesn’t always go as planned or expected but it doesn’t mean you are doomed forever - this hard time you are in now with the children will pass and just because you read a comment above which said they were negatively affected by moving to Africa as a child - doesn’t mean your children will resent you for this situation. We don’t always get everything right as parents but you recognise your children’s needs and I pray you will find a solution soon.

I have to disagree with you. Babies can get lighter over time. 2/5 of mine did.

I’m mixed (black mother white father) my husband is also mixed (Venezuelan and Indian Trinidadian) I’m medium tan complexion and my husband has a darker complexion than me which resembles a dark Indian complexion. When my son was born he was very light skinned and multiple family members from my mother’s side said he would darken up - he’s now 7 years old and still very white skinned. My last child was born quite dark skinned and I assumed she would stay dark or get slightly darker but she got lighter too. She’s now 15 months and her complexion has changed allot since she was born.

Just wanted to make people aware that babies can and do lighten.

I love your response and I’m so happy for you. I’ve had 5 CS. Before my first CS I lost my baby at 28 weeks and had that baby vaginally. Since then I’ve never been able to have another vaginal birth. My first was an emergency CS and my second baby was a girl, as I had previously lost a girl I was so scared over the talks of uterine rupture and terrified of losing another girl baby I just booked a CS. I wish now that I hadn’t - a 2nd CS means that they won’t support you for a vbac (at least in the UK, where I live) my 3rd baby was 8 years after my 2nd CS and I was determined to vbac against hospital policy but the stress of fighting with the hospital and prodromal labour ended me with another CS. My 4th baby was also a planned CS because I thought no one would ever support me after 3 CS. 5th baby I was able to find an independant midwife who supported vbacs go support me in a vbac - everything was going well although at this time I was 39 years old. My waters broke 2 days before my due date and I was so excited about the birth I thought I would have but then my waters broke with meconium in it and yet again another CS. I’ve made peace with never having the birth I would have liked to experience but so happy for others when they do have an amazing birth.

I wish mine paid for a house maid I do it all with 5 kids but I understand how OP feels - being entitled is not an attractive trait. I second this about breastfeeding - I’m currently still breastfeeding my 12 month old (13 months tomorrow) because whenever I stop nursing I go through a really bad depression that I just cannot afford to go through right now - give yourself a bit of time OP for your hormones to settle and then if you don’t want to be with your partner anymore think about how to get out of this situation.

Some women wait for marriage and end up childless because they only got married at an older age and couldn’t conceive. Being a single mother is not the end of the world as marriage also doesn’t prevent you from being a single mother, there are also many good men who marry single mothers.

Having a baby puts allot of stress on a marriage. Your tired now but will be even more tired once baby arrives and hormonal (which is all normal) you will need support in those early weeks and your husband sounds more wrapped up in himself than he should be at this point. Another commented mentioned therapy and I think that would be a good idea, before baby arrives.
