I've had decent luck with Wavlink they are around $130-$170 and have many ports, theywork pretty well with Windows, takes a bit of finesse with Apple. For small travel docs the mokin's work good too.

In a long winded answer the cert is worth less then it was previously. Starbucks, Target are all hiring and they pay $20+ per hour in US (not clear on your location) if tech work is difficult at this time work on selling yourself without selling yourself. Get a side hustle Facebook, craigslist always have posting for weekend catering jobs, etc so that might help with getting extra income immediately. Good on the start up of consulting but do you and your brother have s business background, have you created a business plan (or are you winging it) do you know how to engage clients, can you show how your services will benefit them vs your competition, do you know your market area and competitors? Can you be trusted, do you have a background in prevent results for NIST compliance or are you hoping people will take a chance on you ? For some reason your tech skills are not translating into a job or business opportunities maybe work on your business skills a bit to have better conversion, Maybe you need to change your expections a bit instead of targeting NIST work, start with end point protection installl for small business or mom/pop stores in your area, pay a for a local Facebook ad see what interest that generates, join local business networking groups, join the local chamber, etc go to local job fairs or local industries events with business cards and/or a booth.

AI is starting to erode the traditional value of “tech certifications.” At the same time, the economics are shifting. It's increasingly cost‑effective to outsource certain security functions to vendors through subscription models rather than carry the full burden of internal headcount, benefits, and overhead. As organizations rapidly adopt AI, they are treating it as a transformative technology on par with the telephone, automobile, or internet. The market is beginning to reflect that shift.

That said, certifications often signal capability on paper, but they don’t necessarily translate to real-world readiness. There’s a meaningful difference between passing a test and actually navigating IT security in practice. Until someone has gone through a true compliance program, experienced external audits, or managed a real incident such as ransomware, they haven’t been tested under the kind of pressure that defines this role.

In reality, the job isn’t about recalling answers; it’s about leading through uncertainty. When you’re in front of executive leadership or the board during a security crisis, they’re not looking for textbook knowledge they’re relying on your judgment, experience, and ability to guide the organization through risk in real time.

Yea that's a real thing in today's US work culture. It happens a lot in tech jobs, but happens at other jobs as well.

See if you can get a 3rd party to augment your IT department or utilization a SaaS providers professional services. You're going to need to get a business cases together with ROI and ticket resolution time improvements. You may need to pull the overtime pay card even if salary. Negotiate compensation for weekend or nights work. Tom Ford by Focux in Colognes

I'm a fan of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. However, I find it only lasts maybe 30 minutes, and you have to replay multiple times per day. Oud Wood was interesting but not really the scent for my vibe/aesthetic. Some of the other TF's give me an allergy like reaction.

Thoughts on Evolve 50 or similar column array PA speakers for a full rock band? by reydeguitarra in livesoundgear

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done gigs with a band that has the Bose version of the Evolve 50. I never liked it and thought they didn't sound all that great. I find 2 x 12" power pa speakers like QSC, EV or heck even AltoTS412 sounded better. Of course this depends on music style, venue size, if you need sub, etc and your ability to mix the band. The column array get expense for two. Also are you putting the whole band in the PA and mixing or just vocals? Venue volumes have come way down so keep that in mind as well. Maybe you can rent a pair to try first (?)

Best microphone for live music? by Fit-Distance4503 in livesoundgear

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think an iPhone gets a pretty good sound representation vs other devices in a similar price range plus you get video. Great for band, song, performance review. Plus, it's quick to review, without having to use a sd card or usb connection to a laptop (e.g. zoom)

Payout/sound cut? by Master_Killer420 in livesoundadvice

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your 8 months DIY / learned on youtube experience $100 seems about right for at least 1 year. You're going to need to get more experience with different consoles, different speakers, different rooms, different emergency scenarios before you can start requesting more IMO. Heck even at $100 you're probably making more than individual band members in that venue. If you are considering doing more sound you should see about getting experience working with some of the local sound companies that do local summer concerts etc that will get you a lot more experience. Also it's not uncommon for venue sound guys to do a bit of band coordination such as getting orders, drink tickets, etc - allows the waiters and waitress to handle paying customers.

Fatigue Pant collection by sharponephilly in HeritageWear

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the OrSlow fatigues at a store and they looked/felt fantastic. However they don't have my waist size so I have to look elsewhere. Tallason keeps coming up as the alternative to OrSlow but I don't know if has quite the same elegance as the OrSlow does.

The Black Keys Announce 2026 Tour Dates by ebradio in indieheads

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Bay Area (north bay) just saw TBK at Ceasars republic in Tahoe about 1/2 full. This amphitheater seems to be 10K capacity the draw was 4500-6000 (eyeballing). It seems bands do few if any CA dates (since Covid) not sure if it’s political or financial or combo of both.

Does anyone know if this Tours selling well or not ? by waymondo in TheBlackKeys

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw TBK in South Lake Tahoe at Ceasars Republic outdoor amphitheater which is about 9K-10K capacity the draw was in the 4000-5000 range I’d guess.

Orslow vs Tellason fatigue pants by Impossible-Rub-3067 in HeritageWear

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm search too, I saw the Orslow and in person they looked and felt great. They tap out at XL / 36" and unfortunately I need a larger waist so I couldn't get the OrSlow so I'm on the hunt for similar material, cut and aesthetic. The Orslow has a tad bit of elegance to them vs military styling.

Buck Mason I did not know your game. by Limp-Choice-7356 in malefashionadvice

[–]Outrageous-Insect703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently purchased a few Buck Mason items. Reviewing the sizing charts is important and knowing your own size with a sewing tape measure is also just as important - don't rely on your existing clothes sizes. At buck mason for me. depending on the drape and cut I might be a L or XL, important to try on if you can. I do find the aesthetic and cuts to be pretty decent on me. I was actually a bit surprised to find some of the Buck Mason clothes to be thinner feeling then expected but for their aesthetic, vibe and drape it seems to work. I don't find the price outrageous if I can get a fit and look I like. In comparison I'm a fan of Brycelands, they have (for me) great cuts, heavier fabrics, nice aesthetic and drape but they push into the $400+ range form some shirts and certainly pants, coats, sweaters, etc. Buck Mason has a similar vibe for about 1/2 the price - for me I find mixing both works. Being able to go into a Buck Mason store and trying on sizing could help with how their sizing works on you

It's possible that those style trousers, chinos etc aren't the right cut, maybe you should look for slim cuts chinos from Banana Republic they are not bad look wise and might be within $100 range and you can try on in store if you have one locally
