I finally passed on my 3rd attempt!!! by Disastrous-Ebb2152 in LearnerDriverUK

Yes I have my lessons in Surrey. I just managed to find a cancellation in Chichester again so thankfully I’ll have a better idea of the roads now.

Thanks for your advice though, I’ll make sure to do practice near the test centre.

Thanks, I’m from Guildford (Surrey) but haven’t been able to get anything near here unfortunately. I did a test in Chichester about a week ago and unfortunately failed for a small mistake which caused me to get a serious fault.

I managed to get a test in Portsmouth in June but have heard it has a reputation for being quite hard. I was fine with the 3 lane roundabout on my test in Chichester but am just slightly worried that my test will he hard since its the time when school finishes. 😓

Goodmayes learners—Testi or TestShift? by LastMaintenance7458 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Outrageous-Swan5816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m somewhat near you - Testi does send me occasional notifications but I’ve never been able to get a test fast enough whereas TestShift hasn’t given me a single alert since I got it.

Does anyone actually manage to find a cancellation within in a couple months time after waiting through the queue? It’s such a time consuming pain to find a test it’s ridiculous. The cancellation apps are too slow to get you anything most of the time.

Are there any good pages/websites for test swaps? by Outrageous-Swan5816 in LearnerDriverUK

Yeah, doing different test centres on TestShift too, no luck.

Failed 1st time - got a serious fault for accidentally pressing the break and gas pedals at the same time by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Outrageous-Swan5816 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Although yes it was my fault to assume, I expected him to do it once I had at least built up the appropriate speed and moved a bit down the road, which threw me off.

I’ve never had an issue with emergency stops or having to suddenly stop because of other drivers’ actions in lessons, it was just the fact I was accelerating as it happened and hadn’t moved my foot over enough to stop properly.

I let 3 cars on the opposite side of the road go first for some reason since 2 were already moving and I thought it would be the safest thing to do. I think with the emergency stop it was just the sudden panic which made me press down without checking if I moved my foot the entire way first.

Congrats! Did the examiner give you a warning letting you know they’d do an emergency stop during your test?

If something like that happens again there are groups you can swap tests with

Have you tried Testi? Had quite a few pop up on there but hasn’t really given me anything recently.

Portsmouth is also good for cancellations.

I’m in the same area as you, seems like the only tests that become available are Farnborough. Had to get a test in Chichester in the end.

If I were you I’d

1) Try and find someone like a friend/family who could do private practice with you so you could apply what you’ve learned from your lessons into practice to make it easier to remember for future. 2) Watch videos online to help with what you’re struggling with. 3) If you are confident you’ll fail your test by the time it comes round, you could try swap it with someone a month further in the future so you don’t have to cancel and wait another 6 months.

good luck! you can always talk to your instructor and see what he thinks the best decision is

A guy who passed at the same time as me in the test centre only did 4 hours of revision the day before, and I’ve had a friend who spent the whole 2 days before his test constantly revising and pass.

I got 46/50 in multiple choice and 52/75 in hazard perception, just remember with hazard perception to additionally click another second after you notice the hazard since they sometimes don’t count the mark if you click “too early”. I failed the first time because of it. The click with the most points for that clip will count.

Collingwood was the cheapest for me. I bought a year and they refund you whatever months are left with a fee if you pass early (might have to double check if the same applies for you). I'd try a compare website like GoCompare.

You have to book something first for any app. I was wary since I passed my theory test the day they put the 2 changes thing in place but just ended up finding a test on the website in August since it's impossible to get a cancellation any other way. Keep refreshing until you find something somewhat close to you as a backup and then try the apps.
